Barrel Custimization
I just bought a used gun setup that came with a 16" Smart Parts barrel. I think it is too long, and too chrome. I want to paint it, and shorten it by cutting off the 4" of ports. My question is, what do the ports actually do? Will it make my shots extremely loud? Less accurate? Or are they as I assume and hear, pointless?

they make tit more quiet, but that's about it. be sure to de-bur it completly on the inside or all you'll have is a blender stick.

Of course...I'm not too inexperienced in metal working. So cutting it won't be a problem.

if you're going to paint it, shove paper towels all inside it and amkesure you get NO paint inside your barrel, it screws your accuracy untill it gets worn down/off (trust me, I know  ). |

Do you not have the 20-30 bucks for a new barrel? It would cost you almost nothing if you sold that barrel and then bought one.

It's more fun to have barrels that work properly. You're going to ruin the barrel, porting is not just for sound.
