it's a blowblack so it's going to be loud. What markers are you playing with?

Nope, nothing really to do.
You can make it work at a lower operating pressure, and add a LP reg or something, but that's about it.

An on/off is very nice because it saves you O-rings and the threads of your tank, but save getting one until you upgrade to a better marker.

I wouldn't mind getting a cheapish on/off for a VS1, I think that they deserve one

The only one cheap enough is a Unimount, which are hard as **** to turn on and off.

i have a check-it unimount and it's very easy to turn. Any of the offbrand ones suck though.

It could have simply just been an older design, idk it was on there when I got it.

Almost forgot! The mods in my sig let you run a lower Operating Pressure, so your marker gets a little bit quieter, and kick is dramatically reduced

Any on/off ASA would be better than what you have right now
