Hello, I am planning on painting my Tippmann 98C black with jagad semi-thin purple striped. I was wondering if I should paint the whole thing purple and then mask off with tape and go over it with black, or should I just keep it black how it is and then mask off. <<<How would I do option two. I was wondering which way I should do it.
Option 1: Paint all purple, mask off, paint black
Option 2: Keep black, mask off, paint purple
Hey tippy, your best bet is to paint the purple area first. You don't have to coat the entire marker, just where the stripe will go. Then cut your template (blue 3M masking tape is great!) on a piece of glass, carefully peel it up and position it on the marker. Make sure the purple is completely dry or the tape will peel off the paint. Then proceed with your black coat. Check out my profile that has a link to my site. I do custom paint finishes on paintball markers and rifle parts. Good luck with your job! Email me with any more questions!
So, like, would I just mask off the area around where I want the stripes to be on the marker? I was thinking just to take the masking tape and mask everything on the marker except where the jagad purple stripes would go. Would this be ok? Thanks for the help by the way!
P.S.: Would I also prime the area I want the stripes to be and then go over it with a clear coat when I'm done with the purple?
Hey guys, I am gonna document (with pictures) my whole paint job here

EDIT: DONE! I think this has been a success for my first paint job. Tell me what you think.

Not a very complex paint scheme, so it doesn't look drastically different, and wouldn't be too hard to do, but it doesn't look bad.
I've seen much much worse...
Yeah, I know it isn't the most complex or dificult scheme, but this was my first one, so I was just tryin it out. I could always take it off and do a different scheme if I really wanted to later.
