Making a custom tube hopper. Having load problems.

I'm making a fifteen round tube magazine that goes horizontal to my paintball gun. Made of 3/4th inch CPVC pipe with an end cap and an elbow to feed them, it vastly reduces my gun's silhouette and weight.15 rounds is normally very few but I can carry a lot of them and they can be switched out in under 5 seconds(I'm working on getting that down). I also precision fire, usually three round burst when I think I can hit something. Suppression is left up to someone else.

Anyway, long story short, this magazine, due to it's horizontal nature, only feeds when the gun is tipped downwards slightly.

I want to fix that by putting a spring in the end cap. But it has to be enough force to push the paintballs forward when tilted slightly upwards, without damaging them when fifteen is loaded in for up to several hours.

So far I've looked in auto parts and home supply stores with no luck, and tried making one out of 28 gauge steel, but either it's just not the right kind of wire or my technique(Wrapping it around something!) fails miserably.

Any advice?

the spring is going to need to be long enough, able to compress enough, and strong enough. i recommend getting a catalog from one of many hardware stores and searching until you see fit. order a few, and its just fail and fix from there. (if they have a return policy of some sort maybe you can return the ones that dont fit)
as for mounting it, be careful to position it straight.
why would you keep paintballs loaded for several hours? i hope you mean in game.

Of course. We play woodsball. We can easily be in the field for four or five hours.

Spring feed is over complicating it just go old school and angle it at 15 degrees and reload with ten round tubes.

Couldn't you get a 45 degree elbo (PVC) and put that where it goes into the feedneck? Then it would have the tilt it needs and as for a spring there is always Remote Controlled car springs...get one that is like Medium or Hard(max) and soft(min) on that is long enough...hmm HPI Savage springs are long and HPI Baja 5B are huge...lol Btw the 5B runs off of a weed eater motor just FYI. lol
