anno vs painting

what is the difference between annodizing your gun and painting it? does the annodizing not scratch?

annoes will scratch, but so much cleaner and nicer finish then paints.

anno is done in a way that it becomes part of the alluminum. and paint just stays on top and will flake off sometimes

well in layman's terms: you electrically charge the aluminum while soaking in battery acid which somehow oxidizes the top portion of it making it extremely hard. when this is done the pores on it open up and you dip it in dye which the pores will hold. then it goes into boiling(maybe cold? i forget) water and the pores seal.


im just going by what i remembered from a post on pbn a few days ago. if im wrong at all, then by all means someone correct me.

ok, so painting is a lay er of color on top, annoing is completely diffrent, basically annodizing is giving the metal an electrically charged acid bath, then into boiling dye, then quickly cooled to hold the dye, this way the color becomes part of the top layer of metal, not a just a layer of color ontop
