Most EGO5's are going to be upgraded a lot (new board, new bolt, grip frame, grips, on/off, barrel, etc.) by now; 2005 was (soon to be) 4 years ago. When I got my EGO5 (gone now) about 3 months ago, it had a Virtue board, CP on/off, Star frame and trigger, Etek regulator, stock barrel, Hybrid grips, and a Cure bolt. I got it off of a kid on PbNation for $325. It had basically all of the upgrades that an EGO5 needs. I guess what I am trying to say is that you might be able to get away with $325 for an upgraded EGO5, $350-$375 for an EGO6, $500-$700 for an EGO7, and $800-$900 for an EGO8.
EGO's are the way to go in my opinion, and they are DEFINITELY worth the money. Once you get one, you will rarely use your back up marker, so you could sell it and get a less expensive one, keeping the leftover cash for actually playing or buying new gear.
I hope this helped.
