PMI GTI won't work

I can't get my PMI GTI to work. The first time i tried it, it sounded like the air was just leaking out of the barrel and it would not fire. so after losing the entire tank of air i went and read the manual and found out that i had to cock the marker first. second tank of air worked good. i just had the 4 oz tanks on first, because i did not find a spot to refill my 9 oz tank. so after i got my tanks refilled i went to try and see how it would work because i just went out and got a 14" barrel and a spring set so i could set up the velocity for the maximum. now all it does is shoot the air out the barrel again. it does not matter if i cock the gun or not first. now i did take the gun apart to see how everything works and to find out the location of all the springs. now i tried flipping the valve around thinking that maybe for some reason i put it in backwards, but that did not seem to fix it. i tried replacing the o-rings on the valve but that still did not work either. What else could be causing the air to leak out the barrel? Could the blue o-ring on the hammer be screwed? i looked at it and did not see any problems. I do not know anything else that it could be. any help would be really appreciated thanks
Jonas

Do you have an o-ring on your tank?

Did you replace the o-rings with the right sizes? If they are the wrong size they might not be sealing properly.

get a new cup seal, this is the most likely culprit for air leaking down the barrel. leaking o rings will not send air down the barrel, but will allow air to take the easy way out, most likely through the trigger frame

The valve cup seal is a piece of steel that gets inserted intothe valve and has a piece of rubber attached to it along with a spring right? because when i pulled my valve out i noticed that the valve cup seal will not go into the valve and when i try and insert it the other way it slides in but gets stuck and the other end where it would not go in. should i try and lightly file the one end of the valve so that the valve cup seal will slide all the way thru?

before you do anything, answer yourself this...how old is this gun? if its relatively new (like less than a year, and you are the original owner, call PMI and have them send you a new setup, cupseal and valve), if its old and you are not the original owner i would simply go get a new valve and cupseal.

odds are that something is wrong with one or both, and i doubt that filing will really solve the problem, allthough, you may try it if you have the $$ to back up your "mistake", and you might even save a buck or two in the process.

Yes the gun is brand new only had one tank of air and balls run thru it. and i misplaced the reciept so i could not get it under warrenty. i did fix it by running the file thru the one side and now it works no problem. i just whis i would of figured this out two air tanks ago. But thanks for all your answers and suggestions. i really appreciate it.

just so you know, PMI is really good with their warranty. i never supplied them with a reciept or warranty card on any of my guns (and ive had 4), and ive had them send me parts twice, neither of which was a defect on their part, turns out it was operator error, but they dont know that. they are really good people to deal with.

glad you got it working
