It goes where the front grip of your gun is. You only need it for higher end guns. Here's some-

Because it has to do with air being pumped into the gun at a high level and low end guns don't have a high ROF(rate of fire) so they don't need it. If you have a lower end gun like myself I would maybe recommend an expansion chamber where it turns the liquid Co2 from liquid to gas before it enters your gun, which it doesn't without it.

*sigh*
A regulator is a device that consists of a chamber, spring, and afew other "secret" parts that every company has different.
What it does is it takes a certain amount of air in, which is regulator by the user, and inputs almost an identical amout of air into the marker at everyshot. This is used for your FPS to be consistent, and shots to go to approximately the same spot every time you fire your marker.
The regulator goes infront of the trigger frame, and is used as a fore grip, and is held by the hand which is not used to press the trigger.
All markers can use a regulator, not just high end. They are a VERY good device, but can be pricey, which is why many low end players dont use them. But if you use HPA, it should be a top 3 upgrade on your list.
They can be purchased at all stored, and all online stores, but i recommend
www.xpaintball.com Cheap prices, lost of choices, and cheap (sometimes even free) shipping.

But what kind of regulator...what brand, model? is it even worth it with my gun? I was also thinking about getting an electronic trigger frame.

It is up to you, but if you get an electro-frame than I'd get a regulator. Go to xtremepaintball.com then click on gun upgrades and look for regs.

best reg for the money = CP (custom products) im not sure if XPB has them or not, but i know they can be had for about $65, most places are 80, so look around.
a reg is definately worth it for any gun, since if you decide to buy a new gun, a reg is one item that you can "transfer" to your next gat.

Since this is the ups thread, I thought I'd post a different kind of thing I saw. I went paintballing on the weekend and saw a friend with a PMI R6. It was all upped though. It had a chrome eforce trigger, cp one piece barrel, x-chamber foregrip, and a new venturi bolt. I swear this little R6 was better than my old SRT. It rocked. Just wanted to post that because I thought it was awesome. It just shows that you can turn a low end gun into a mid level gun with some money.

i personally would recommend not upgrading it at all and just buying an ion or impulse or something along those lines.

There are some low end guns worth upgrading to the max... I do not see why people always come to that conclusion of not upgrading their gun.
