Hi guys, new to the forums, I will be opening my paintball field hopefully this winter 05'-06' but have to wait for the permits to clear. I am not going to use my field to make a lot of $$$ at first, mostly for church outreach and some comercial use for b-days, youth groups etcetra, just to make my money back.

Anyways, I am constucting a speedball course 140'x80' on farmland and have a few questions since I am newer to the sport.

1. How easy is using Compressed Air/N2 instead of CO2 and which is more efficient, I want to use CA and use a Scuba tank to do refills?

2. On most lower end (rental) guns do you have to buy the air pressure gauges seperate?

3. What do you feel is the best place to buy my supplies in bulk?

4. How much better are the battery operated hoppers?

1, HPA is more expensive but is more stable if it gets cold like under 40? co2 will not work the greatest but it is A LOT cheapter.

2.Not shere about that one.

3.Either I & I sports or Paintball Discounters and I also think NPS has some start up packages.

4.No you dont nedd motorized hoppers unless you areusing electric guns or are firing more than 6-7 balls per second.

But you should really learn more about the game before you start up a field.

1---hpa is better in all ways... easier to fill.. great consisteny.. not affected my the weather... some gun can not even run on co2 (bad on noids) you can use scuba tanks but i recomend buying a compressor designed for hpa... standard compressors only pout out 300 psi. hpa tanks can take up to 5000 psi. if you are gonna run the place you will need both co2 and hpa tho...

2---most low end guns(rental) will be fine on co2 and will not need any guages.

3---i am not sure about that one... just shoop around..

4---battery assist hoppers are 100 times better.. but for the guns you will most likely be renting will not be needed...

I thank you both for your opinion, since the permits take 4-6 months to attain, I believe I will have more time to work on my knowledge of paintball, this will be used as a course for youth outreach at first, it is not until I feel more comfortable with paintball that I will use it for commercial......that is why I am asking for everyones knowledge I do thank you though for the answers.

ok, my step dad actually owned a field for about a year,until we sold the the property to a trucking company.

1. To run a field you will need CO2 and HPA(nitrogen or compressed air) an air compressor will save you money in the long run but are very expensive when starting out. Just go to a welding supply shop and get compressed nitrogen tanks. Also get CO2 tanks with a diptube in it. Make sure to have a few extra on hand.

2. Low end guns usually run on CO2, so you don't need a gauge for them. If you are purchasing rentals, go with tippmanns. They are a little bit more than the other guns but are tanks that cannot be destroyed. This will save you money in the long run also.

3. When buying your stuff, go straigh to National Paintball Supply. Do not deal with paintball discounters or I and I sports. They both buy from National Paintball, so of course their prices are going to be more expensive and they're customer service is terrible.

4. Battery operated hoppers can run from $25-$150. If you are buying them for rentals, don't bother. Just get the plain gravity fed hoppers. A lot cheaper and actually more durable cause there are less parts to break.

A meeting is getting set up with the planning commission next week, yea! just have to finish my drawings of all the plans, everything is finally coming together!

Oh and got a 20lb. CO2 tank on ebay today for $51
