Im making a field... I have a few questions...
Well I have a perfect field to play paintball on, and I want to start making it. I have a few questions though... Do I have to have like a license to charge people to play on it? There is like no where to play where i live, so i think a lot of people will come, but i dont know if you need a License or something to charge people.

do you mean that "I" have to have insurance? or do i just have to make them sign a thing saying i am not responsible for any injuries and to play at your own risk?

Basicly for you to make a field and charge people to use it you need a business license, insurance, and a mailing address for that business.
You cant jsut create a field in your huge backyard and tell people they gotta pay 5 bucks to play on it. Most you can do is open it for free to the public and make signs and post them everywhere saying you are not responsible for anything that happens.
Signed Waivers would be a good idea also.

You could open it for free, but signed waivers would still be a must. To open it as a business would require a license and insurance.
If you get some people coming regularly and they trust you, you could ask for donations to buy equipment, like air bunkers etc. But once you start profiting, you have to pay taxes and all kinds of other headaches.

Waiver's aren't worth the paper they are printed on. They are only a feel-good for the owner that you understand that there is inherent risk in the sport, blah, blah, blah.
Any first year law student can get around a waiver in court.
But everyone else is right. If you are going to make a professional field, you have to have the license and insurance. Also look at zoning, ADA requirement, sanitation, if you plan on having a snack bar, you then are dealing with the bureau of health etc.
It can be done, but you must do it right in order to avoid bankrupcy in your first week.

QFT, but somebody should really do something about it. Fields have been closing down because the owners are getting sued for a million more than thier insurance even covers, even when the person who got injured signed a waiver. They should somehow be more legally binding. I mean I could get around a waiver, and im a highschool student whos never taken a single law class.

I have started working on the field, and its pretty sweet, but after all that info im not gonna even try to charge people. But i think its stupid to have people sueing over getting hurt at a field. I mean you know the risks when you walk onto a field, and you know you could get hurt.
PS: In a couple weeks, ill post a thread about my field, with tons of pics and stuff. The highlight is the huge creek that I turned into a WWI type trench with pallets as a place for walking. Its like huge and freakin cool. Cant wait to play on it.
