Field building

Me and my friend are trying to build a field, his dad already said he doesn't care what we do with my friend's bottom field. (They have two fields, and a starting pin surrounding their house) and I was wondering, what makes the best bunkers, and bases? So far we're going around getting as many pallets as possible, as well if we can find any scrap metal. I want the field to look nice, so I'm not all up for just random pieces of junk. So, if anyone has any ideas to use for building materials, that would be helpful. Also, when playing CTF, how big should our poles/flags be? Or does that really matter?
