If I build it, will you come?

I have done some preliminary research in the Cape Coral/Ft. Myers, Florida area and it seems there is nowhere good to play. I am opening a field in the near future and would like to know if I build it, will you come? Is there anyone from that area? What kinds of fields are there and what are their strengths and weaknesses? Anything you would change if you could? If you could describe your dream field, what would it include?

Personally I am a fan of both woodsball and speedball, but that can get old quick. I am thinking I would do that, but also have a "combat town" and do scenarios other than capture the flag. It will be buildings, some up to three stories made of cinder block, set up like a real town. While I was in the Marines we used to train at an area just like this and it was the hilight of the training.

Besides the different fields I would also like to set up a field just for the pros or teams to play since they like to think they own the place and no one ever gets to play when they are there...

I'm also going to have a pro-shop, drink/snack area, air conditioned room to cool off with water fountains, and eventually host a team of my own. I would also one day like to open it during off times and have a paintball school where we can have pros and teams come in teach tactics and play with noobs.

If anyone currently has an operating field, can you give me advice, costs, mistakes you made, things I should do? Also how big of a lot do you think I would need for this idea?

Any and all feedback is appreciated!! I look forward to hearing your ideas and criticism...thanks in advance!!

Well at the field I play at there is a smallish town type of field and it is a really popular map. I personally would go for a trench warfare type map. I think that would be really fun. I don't think I would make the trip to Florida though since I am on the other side of the continent but good luck!

Hey man, I'm in Tampa, if you build that field it would be worth the drive!

All the fields here are the same, 3-6 smallish fields; bunkers, wood, some trees, same old same old.Games get old and last 5 minutes. What you are doing sounds very good, I would make a weekend trip down to play. That field is not 'just another field' around here, people will like that, a lot.

Best of luck with the field.

Really?!?! You would drive from Tampa??? Maybe I am restricting my marketing radius then...

I did a 3d model of what I would like...not exactly the layout, but just the beginning idea. Most 5 acre lots in Fl are set up in rectangles 330x660x330x660 so that's what I went off of. Feel free to critique.

That looks very nice... is the outside area all woodsball? If so I think it's a little big... You could have different variations of speedball courses, urban, etc.

The outside I would like to do different woodsball fields...maybe two or three to run consecutively with variations from one to another.

I hate to rain on the parade, but do you realize how hard this would be to build?
Or just how expensive this would be? Really?
I mean, don't get me wrong, that would be awesome, and something that big would deffinitly attract attention and most likely would be great for the sport, but it would just be a huge undertaking

Considering I live in Michigan, I wouldn't be able to come very much, but if I was ever in town [1,2 times a year] I would definitly come

They use to open up Fort Campbell's Urban Assault place once a year to paintball players. I believe they still do. I think they had around 200-300 people show up each year? And that's in Kentucky.

1st of all, did you get to open and design your field? If you haven't and are still considering opening opening one I may suggest to get the urban field close to the woods field so that you can combine urban and woods for good scenario play.
