Do you have your land already or are you looking for it? Another thing to remember is you may have to level/flatten land you rent or own, which can be expensive depending how much work has to be done.

I've always wanted to open a field. Back when I was 21 or so, I was trying to figure out how to do it.

I guess now that's kinda on the back burner and I'm onto more reasonable things.

Yea, I would say pretty much everyone here is jealous.

If you have any more questions just ask. I think everything in your original post was discussed or mentioned.

If he can pull this off...

....as a community - this appears to be a haphazardly geo-centric area for us. Pilgrimage?

Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, that makes a firearm better makes a paintball marker worse. They are 2 very different worlds with nothing except a trigger in common

F YEAH TEXAS. Just make sure when this happens I'm not in Afghanistan aight? I'd drive 3-4hours to support a good paintball field. That and I can disguise the trip to my wife as a visit to my mom and sisters.

I wasn't active on the forum when this thread was made, but since you just posted hopefully you will read this post.

Especially when you first start off, stay conservative with paint. My field has 2 choices, one is $45 and one is $65. They only sell the $65 on weekends and on weekdays you can bring your own paint as long as it's white fill. Having more than 2 seems like overkill to me, as 90% of people will be recballers and will just buy the cheapest option available.

Young guns tournaments are a great way to bring some action to your field, and it brings in a younger crowd because people that are over 16 or ranked divisionally aren't allowed in.

I agree with Trbo in that the Invert Helix at $30 each would be a great mask. I've never seen a field use thermal masks, but it would definitely make the day much more enjoyable and you would pull business back. I own one and it's a great great great mask.

As for markers, stick with the bt4/98's. Just so durable and easy to fix.

The problem with the turf at my field is the amount of paint on it. It's almost impossible to run. Not sure what you could do about this, but keep it in mind. Also, have a lawn blower or something powerful to blow the paintballs off the field, and a way to get them out.

If your field is very crowded like mine(1 field, indoor, 50 people with 10 bunkers?), separate high tech and low tech, and don't let 'private parties' control the field. People want to continually get on, play as much as possible in a short amount of time. Older refs seems like a good idea, because I swear if the 15 year old ref squeaks at me one more time I'm gonna light him up.

If you have 45 minutes in either direction... you know where to advertise! Get your facebook page out and get the local school kids to like it/send it to all their friends. Also realize you basically have a monopoly in the area... so use that to your advantage when pricing.

When my field sells markers, they give free admission passes with them and offer repairs for life. Just a thought.

Also some of the guys are assholes, just act personable. If anyone of your staff acts like a dick, get them out.

Pump-marker days or specialized days for certain people is a fun idea, and a membership card for like $99(or so) that gets you free admission for the entire year is a great way to pull in fast money to build the business.

Girls in bikinis announcing everyone to take the field? Great investment.

i used to live in the dallas area of texas and its a big market considering the two dominant fields out there with proshops of their own..ap and xdreniline, roanoke/grapevine. for staffing if your considering hiring high school kids or younger crowd make sure they follow your fields rules and dont give any special treatments to any of their friends, what those fields are known for. keep it fun and safe for the newbies of course and also run private parties the better way of making money not just walk ons. your projected prices slash that of your competions thats for sure. i worked at ap for around 6 months and have played at every field in the area. there's a whole list of opportunity for different promotions around there that really none of the fields really took up on, walk into a couple of businesses in the area when tournaments come up and see if they will lend a few bucks for just their name on the banner. kieth who used to run ap(adventure park) might still i dont know, will never admit to this but if it wasnt for me getting the name and turnout not to mention get the owner to hire an actual cobra grand prize helocopter ride at the 2008 we were soldiers scenario event he would of never had the turnout of a couple hundred players that the event saw. you can even talk to a couple of the players around there and see what their thoughts are texas and the dfw area have a huge horizon of options. best of luck to you sir hope you get your dream and heck ill come play at your field next time im down there.

edit: head on over to gatsplat indoor field in lewisville and talk to the manager there not the owner i forget his name but he used to run draxxus head department of advertizing plus has over 20 years of exprience in the game, nice guy too. he might be able to help you out or you might be able to swoon him over. same thing goes for a guys named casey or johnathon at adventure park over in roanoke you might get help from them johnathon is a retired pro and has connections everywhere. casey is a great business man kinda rough but good guy.
