Lifetime supporting memeber badge, there's nothing fishy going on here
I noticed this a long time ago, but finally got bored enough at work to ask.
Why does the little badge under my name that is supposed to say lifetime supporting member not work? I just went to the "paid members" section and the badge shows correctly there.

It's not something that I linked to. It's a board setting if you purchase the lifetime member thing. Admins link it in your profile, you can't change it.

Yes, I'm asking if the admins plan on fixing that.

Beyond my pay grade and no contact with the new "owners" via pm has been established. I think they forgot about us. I can't do anything about it other then to link an entirely new image to your profile specifically. To do it system wide requires the head admin Cobra (who I am convinced doesn't exist.)
Frankly the new owners collect their google ads money and leave the forum to itself.

medic, you ever thought about ditching this forum and starting a new one? seems you're right about the owners; they simply left us to die.

Don't forget about me!!
Sorry I haven't been around lately, life suddenly got hard. Going through some stuff right now, but I'll be back sooner or later.
I actually thought about starting a forum a while back, but I quickly learned that people learn about forums via word of mouth, google, and "content". Since it would be a new forum, word of mouth would be minimal, we wouldn't be very high on the google searches, finding a decent name would be difficult, and content is created by users, which we wouldn't have.
Even though this forum is left to die, it still has 10 years of content and a great name that shows up all the time when searching anything paintball related. thats why its still one of the largest paintball forums.

I haven't the funds to host a forum but the thought has crossed my mind. It bothers me that the current owners have left us to be just a gravy train ad revenue generator for them and that they want nothing to do about the administration of this forum, but what do I have to say about it being an at-will, unpaid, volunteer moderator. Even though I have been here since '04 and have nearly 100K posts, my word means squat here.

It's crossed my mind plenty of times in the last few years, but i wouldn't know where to start on hosting a site, or starting a forum; let alone maintaining it. I've been here sin 04 as well, and I'd like to be able to have a say at things, and start advertising or get a online store to sponsor us again.
There's still a few good names out there that aren't yet taken; i've checked

If money is an issue, I'm sure we can use Kickstarter to help get the monies

I'd be willing to put some green down to help. I don't how much it takes to get started but the few family members here probably could help out enough to get it going. It'd be our baby, our text based baby.

Well let me talk with Scott over at Big Evil Online. He is pretty cool about things and I am sure he can tell me what it costs, what we need for software, and all that. Anyone a vbulletin guru? That I think would be our greatest problem is customizing their software. I may be able to spend some time on in this summer, but not until after finals.

Definitely not a Guru, but I have the tiniest bit of experience with it.
