Lightbulb What I've noticed

Basically in browsing these forums, especially this one. Over half of the forum issues boil down to new users vs. old users and should older users get more priviledges, and post count.

Why don't you do a forum wide referendum on some of these issues. Sure you'd get biases. For example, in a vote for post count being viewed or not you'd have older users voting for yes and younger users voting for no. But some younger users, such as myself, would say yes, and some older users, such as Duo, would say no. Then the administration could base future decisions on post count being viewed as a result of the polls.

Would forum wide polls be the answer? Of course not. Should forum policies be decided on the results? Of course not. I'm just saying that perhaps once in a while it is in the administration's best interest to test the water, to see where users stand. At least people would get a chance to voice their opinion, and it would eliminate one person's vote being worth more than another.

Sure forum polls are notoriously unreliable. I mean the average amount of votes per poll probably hovers around 7. But I think a forum-wide announcement / poll would bring it to everyone's attention, and those who do not wish to take part wouldn't.

I'm just suggesting a poll because a thread is not the best place to discuss issues as it will inevitably lead to flaming, which again doesn't solve anything.

It's just a thought, from a forum newbie. I'm sure this idea will get flamed, and there will be some obvious reason as to why it would be bad. But like I said before, I believe mainly older users would be the ones to vote, as older users will have a stronger opinion on issues. Another way to limit it to older more frequent users is to only have the poll go for just one day. That eliminates many of the infrequent wishy washy users. And if the vote is announced beforehand, we don't need to worry about older users complaining about missing the vote and not getting their say.

Possible issues:

-Should post-count be viewable?
-Should older users get more priviledges?
-Are more mods needed, better mods needed, or is it just fine the way it is?

Again, I'm new, and this is just a thought. Flame away.
