I then pm'ed him back to tell him not to send me any more pms trying to promote his store and that these forums were not to be used as a means of free advertising. He then proceded to insult me on the grounds that I use a spyder. Is this allowed(The first pm) and did anyone else get this pm?

I have to admit...it never crossed my mind that people could use PM's to send spam/advertising messages. That's still using PBF to spam and send unsolicited marketing messages, so that is an instant ban.

I will edit the forum stickies that talk about spamming and add to it that the Private Messaging system cannot be used to send out spam/advertising messages just like the forum.

Thanks for posting, I would've never know. And I'm sure you'll be pleased to know that janthony is banned because he was advertising, regardless of whether it was in PM's or on the forum

If you notice, the forum rules are also changed to include that if the PM system is used to send out unsolicited marketing materials (ads), it is an instant ban just like posting regular spam/ads on the forum itself

If that happens (as well as any other kind of PM harassment/unsolicited store material), PM me a copy of what was sent and I will get onto the offending user like white on rice

I would imagine that'd be an instant ban, simply because they're using the forum to verbally attack others. The fact that they do it without purpose would be even more reason for a ban
