Ariakon sim 5 vs Tippy A5

I think both of these guns look like great sim/mil guns. The aria obviously wins in the looks department but which is a better performer? If I was to get the A5 it would have a flatline. How goor or bad is the cyclone feeder? I like the idea of being battery free. I am just a woods gamer looking for a good accurate gun that has the looks and feel of a real gun, relatively speaking

I heard the Sims weren't too great. As for the A5 will flatline, its great if you play woods. Just be sure to NEVER get the cheap paint. You got to go with high grade stuff (I.E. marbalizers or GAPs) if you want to have a fun time with the flatline. Settle for the cheap stuff, and you get constant ball breaks. Flatline + ball break = hell.

Totally not true I run Brass Eagle Afterburners in my flatline all the time with great results....way to keep the myth alive tho!

I've used a flatline for almost 2 years, buddy. (I don't put it in my sig because, well, I want to forget).

I used to just buy the cheap zap/pmi paint and they would break ALL the time. You may not want the expensive ones, but you want the high grade ones that are maded perfectly to break on the player, and not the gun. If you just get the hardest paint out there (which I am assuming makes your Afterburners so successful) then you might as well use a normal barrel because you paintballs will be bouncing all day.

I use a wide range of paintballs with no ill effects such as wild streak, big ball, draxxus, zap primer, evils, BE afterburners, and experience none of the ill-effects that you mentioned.

Can you elaborate a little more on the Sims? Do they have reliability problems? Extremely low rate of fire? accuracy? What are the bad things you hear? I am a bit of a noob (although a bit old) and am really interested in getting away from the cheesy science fiction movie looking gun that I own now (05 imagine - progressive barrel - rev x) ... Thanks for the help

They are good guns, however most peoples beef with them is the fact that because they look so real, they are really expensive compared to a gun that will give you the same performance. But if you want a realistic experience when you play and all about the milsim and you have the dough to spend on it, then it will not let you down.

Well I can get used/excellent condition sim-5's all day long on ebay for $240. Would this be a good deal? I can get a brand new a5 for $225?

By the above posts you obviously have/had an a5 with flatline. Does the flatline really give you any kind of advantage as far as range? I have searched high and far and everyone has a different take on it. I have seen your posts quite a bit around these parts and respect your opinion. Thanks.

Ive used the 98 with flatline now for over a year, and the A5 isnt much different. These are the facts:

1. PBs have a hard time breaking past 150ft with any gun or barrel
2. Flatline gives you a flat trajectory for at least 150 ft
3. Standard barrels begin to drop off at about 80ft or so depending on the velocity
4. You dont have to lob paintballs within the breaking range of the gun with the flatline

that is eactly what I was looking for. I have a deal brewing for both a c98 and an a5 (package deal). The 98 already has a flatline the a5 not. But I will judge the 2 guns deside which I like better and the flatline on the 98 will give me a better feel for whether i like it or not. by everything I read it is exactly what I want (the flatline). as far as which tippy will be the winner .. we shall find out. The loser will be for sale shortly there after :^)
