do it, and dont teflon the barb or anything on the gun for that matter, voids the warranty.

and you can fix a barb leak in 10 minutes easy.

Figure worst case scenario and it does have a blown solenoid- you can find a Timmy Solenoid for around $70 and its very very easy to install, if it just is a barb figure since it is an older Timmy also upgrade to Hi-flow babs with all new hoses then it would be $20, also pretty easy to do, many people could walk you right through it. A Timmy is a super easy gun to work on. If it was me I would do the trade, since there isn't much that can go wrong on a Timmy that would be bad enough to cause you to get the bad side of the trade, You are moving up almost $300 in value on the trade- even if it had a blown noid, fried board (just threw that in to show major parts that would still keep the trade in your favor, not that is an issue with this gun) and leaking barbs you still would come out ahead.

actually worst case scenario is that its a stolen gun, he trades for it, goes to the field, and gets his ass kicked

id watch out on this one, im not sure why anyone would trade a timmy straight up for an ion

Maybe its his back-up gun and he just doesn't want to mess with it?
Is it a local trade or an online trade, if its online- even if it was stolen the owner would never find him at the field and kick his ass.

Their is a reason why it is called the worst case scenario

Trade it, fix it, and sell it. If you play your cards right you could make $100 or more doing this. Then if you want you could buy a new ION and upgrade it past your old one without spending a dime.

ya, trade it. find out what you need to fix it. if its somewhat cheap, fix it and keep it. if its going to be 100+ sell it for 400+ and keep the extra money to buy another ion.. hmm.. BSTing ions could become a side business....

If he had a Timmy for the cost of an ION + a couple of small parts, WTF would he trade down to an ION again? That would be like trading a BMW for a Ford Tempo.

What if you found someone to act as a third party to the trade so neither person has to worry about getting ripped off.
