Spyder Rodeo vs Tippmann 98 custom

I was wondering about how both these guns at STOCK configuration compare. Also im not really worried about price, just preformance

Please be specific like not just the tippman/spyder is better, but the tippman/spyder is more reliable because there are fewer moving parts that need oiling... stuff like that

Hey, you're from mississippi too? Sweet.
The Tippmann is more durable than the Spyder, but is a pain in the ass to clean. The Spyder is going to have more accurate and consistent shots out of the box, but the Tippmann is much more reliable of a gun. Basically, which gun to get depends on which type of paintball you would like to play. Both guns are more than suitable for woodsplay, but the Spyder could also be easily used as a speedball gun with a few minor upgrades.

i would go with the tippmann if i were u. it is so much more reliable and doesn't chop paint. i have some friends with spyders and i notice them always cleaning there bolts and barrels from paint chopping. for the tippmann u just need a better barrel and if will shoot great.

I would advise you to get a Tippmann. Spyders are actually pretty decent guns (despite what the naysayers suggest). but you WILL break something on your Spyder long before anything ever goes wrong with your Tippmann. The reliability of Tippmann is legendary, and don't worry about a little extra time to take the gun apart. Basically, you won't be needing to because these things are work horses.

Here is a little anecdote: When my friends and I decided to get into paintball several months ago, the 4 of them went with Spyder Pilots and I bought a Tippmann Custom Pro. Best decision ever. By the end of 8 hours of play, 3 of the 4 Pilots had something broken or malfunctioning, and every one of them had been taken apart multiple times to clean chops. I never had to do anything except load more paint into my hopper. Oh, and wait around for everyone else to finish cleaning their chops. I painted alot of trees around that campfire.

As far as accuracy goes, many consider this blaspehmy, but accuracy comes mostly from a good paintball to barrel match, and not so much from an overpriced barrel. You can get great accurracy from almost ANY barrel. If you put the paintball in your barrel and it rolls out, you will experience horrible accuracy. If it gets stuck and won't come out, you will break balls. The optimum length is about 12-14 inches. ANything shorter and your ball won't get up to speed, anything longer and you just mess up your accuracy.

Check out that site for barrell and air system info, it is very helpful.

Also, Tippmanns work just fine in 'speedball'. You won't be shooting 15bps, but if that is your goal you wouldn't want a SPyder OR a Tippmann. I took out a Shocker and a Matrix with my lowly Tippmann CP. It all comes down to how you use what you have.
