X&/T9 or SP-8?

OK, Tippman X7 /Tiberius T9 / Smart Parts SP-8.

Don't hesitate if you have a better suggestion. I'm thinking about something in around or under $300 for base model.

Um, Ion or a VS2. Both great guns. Also the Ion is a SP8 with out all that crap on it to make it weigh more.

However, if you want to choose between those guns the tiberius are good quality (so ive heard) so T9>SP8>(rip off) X7

X7 super awesome with the flat line and response trigger. SP8's are really nice, and yes they are just ions. I wouldn't say they weigh more though. Its all plastic bodied so there isn't much weight. It also can take the board upgrades just like a normal ion can. Both guns are great I would find them both and play around with them and find what you like in them and how they feel to you before you buy.

Hm, flatline and response trigger? Why waste money on that. The flatlines suck. They may add range but what good is that range if the paint doesnt break on the opponents. Also response triggers are either full auto or not, and it takes a little time to learn how to use them plus they arnt quite as fast as an egrip. An Egrip and a nice barrel is so much better.

Plus the plastic body on the SP8 does weigh more (even if its only a little) but the big thing is the size. It makes it harder to tuck in with and bulky.

Since i can see that there were a good amount of scenario guns mentioned let me say this: Performance wise, a "speedball" gun will be a lot better in both woods and speedball. What makes a gun classified as a certain type? Arnt both formats demanding the same thing? Weight, efficiency, speed, reliability, accuracy, etc? So if one gun has all these traits doesnt it make it better in both formats? Yes, it does. Just because you are going to play one format doesnt mean you shouldnt look into other guns. The only reason why you would want a mil-sim gun is for the looks, and unless your big into it, the vanity of that look-a-like stuff gets old fast.

hmmm... to be completely honest I don't know exactly what I want. I'm new to paintball and I'm looking for a gun that would last me a while and be a good platform if I decide to customize it later on. These three seemed ok to me. I'm leaning towards X7 purely because it seems to be a more 'common' gun out there with a chance of more 'custom' parts to be available.

I would suggest getting a gun that you are happy with from the get go. My friend just bought an X7 and to be honest i would pretty much rather just get an A5. However, i still beleive that the VS series from spyder offers the MOST bang for your buck right off the bat w/o any upgrades whats so ever. But, it does have potential for a few higher end upgrades (barrel, maybe a new feedneck, etc) so my vote, and i know a lot of PBF, will say go the VS series. Trust me, after shooting these guns (i have shot all of them) the VS feels more like a high end gun than the other ones (cept the Ion).
