They are basically the same gun, if he plans on mil-simming his gun out the way he wants it get the 98, if he likes the look of the alpha black then get that.

Mechanical functions between the two are the same . The difference is style and handling , If your a crack baller (oops) I mean speed baller and shooting paint into the dark hoping you hit some1 is your idea of paintball you will go with the stock 98(JOKE), but if you are into scenario where the action is more life like and the realism of a tru firearm is what your after then you will get a Alpha black configured from a M4 Base. NOTE: The alpha black Tactical comes with an E-trigger but the basic will be upgradable aroung June of 08, with an E-Trigger , Cyclone feed system and longer barrels. The 98 is also customizable for scenario but for alot more money. If the Alpha black is to heavy for some people stick with the lil 98.

yes because every speedballers first choice is a tippman 98...??? Neither is a speedball gun. I'd go with the 98, it's been around longer and has more performance upgrades than the black.

the custom 98 can also be made to look like the AK47 if you like that look. I'm tempted to get that mod for my custom 98...I've seen the Ak47 full mod for $299 which also comes with a scope.

YA the_real_kaz has a point I would never get either of those cause you would get pwned from all the other walk-ons with speed-ball guns!

What? when did I say anything even close to that? The guy above me was saying that the 98 was more for speedball.
I pwn walk ons using a pump, cause it's more about the player and not the marker.

lol thanks, but usally you put that in my pump thread. And, no it's not the only marker I use. I also shoot a quest for tournament play, but otherwise for normal walk on play I use the old pump.
