So i used to play paintball a little when i was younger and decided to get back into it. I was jusy gonna buy a 150$(approx) gun from walmart either a tippman, spider, or jt. I was just asking what would be the best gun for under 200$?

You can't go wrong with a Tippmann.

Spyders are faster and lighter and smaller than a tippman. Stick with them

If it's the newer one, than yes you can.
If you buy a used one from back a while, than it'll be fine.

Personally, I'd get the Spyder, lighter, faster (if electro), and easier to maintain.
The recent Tippmanns are having valve and sear problems, and that's leaving me a bit weary of their products.

If you decide to go online or a pb store, look into an Ion too. VERY cheap now, and honestly pretty decent guns, as long as you take the time to learn how to care for them.

You just suggested an Ion? That's surprising(no flammage just it's been awhile lol). If your looking at spyders get the VS1, if you are gonna be running hpa get a VS2 or Ion.

With the price they're going for now...it's hard NOT to recommend them, even if I despise their business practices. Throw a on/off, clamping neck, and QEV on it, and you've got a gun that is actually quite nice for about $200 total. Yeah, drop an Ion MSRP down enough, and even I'll get one (ok, mine was free...)!!

lol, How much ARE they goin for? I am well aware of an Ion's potential. Hell with just a new bolt/QEV you can optimize the gun to get over a case.

MSRP is now $165 for standard Ion, $199 for Ion XE (whose bolts are NOT compatible with original Ion)

Distance is the same for all guns based on velocity.

Accuracy is 95% based on paint to barrel match, so any gun with a good barrel and good matching paint will be incredibly accurate (my Ion with stock barrel shooting the el 'cheapo paint that my local field sells cheap was shooting ball on ball accurate, put my Sly on the G3 to shame!! [yes, I was too lazy to match the Sly kit]).
Speed, VS1 or Ion would be great for your price range.

I still don't have a problem not suggesting them/telling people why they shouldn't.

They are still cheaply made and break constantly.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a paintball w***e. I'm currently working on getting a Marq Rapper (silver or yellow, I wish they had gloss white Rappers), and trying to trade the SystemX for something that I don't already have. And the reason for them breaking is still 95% user error. They're made tinker-unfriendly due to how easy it is to damage the hoses when you open them up to work on them, but other than that, they're not actually MADE that bad. And if people would take the 20 minutes to read the manual, there would be DRASTICALLY fewer broken Ions. But everyone nowadays thinks they're an expert. It's the same for ALL the nice low end guns, CONSTANT problems. Mini, PMR, Fusions, etc. People don't take the time to learn it, and they break it. Ions are, IMO, the best thing that could have happened to the sport. They drove the prices of quality guns down overnight. Now you can grab a Mini for $325, a bolt & spring for $70, and it'll shoot as well as a $1200 Ego or DM8. Thanks to the Ion. SP is a despicable company, but they did get this ONE thing right.

I have 2 DW fibur barrels, Lucky uni1tech kit, empire kit like the scepter, scepter, bob long Assasins and longshot barrels, one piece ultralite, stock invert barrel, 2 proto 1 pieces, a proto 2 piece and I think that is it(Most of them are in NC, I just grabbed what I needed when I moved to VA. All I have in guns is 2 PMR's and a Mini.

Sometime if I ever have to come down your area to do some work we'll have to hook up and play. We've got stores in your area, so wouldn't be that out of the realm of possibility that if they have a new one opening they'll ask for someone to go down to assist.

This is the second thread tonight where I've seen the old 90 some odd % is user error with Ions. That statistic is WRONG!

The Ion always breaks when you take it apart. Not because of user error but becuase the wires are poorly sautered together and easly fall apart. Also the air hoses come off easly and break as well. If the gun was put together better than the "user errors" as you pretend to call them would not exist. Therefore the errors are cause by SP cutting cornors for a cheaper priced gun.

It's not "tinker unfreindly" its poor design, and poor parts.

Besides the Gen 1 mini's and cheap plastic parts of the PMR, none of the other markers break like the ion.
