This is one of the best debates out. They're very closely priced, and very closely matched. Both AMAZING markers for their price. The 09 PMR if it doesn't go up in price any is an even better value than the original since it now has a metal back cap and UL frame stock. IMO, if you're considering the 09 PMR or a Mini, it's totally a toss-up now. They're both incredible markers and incredible value. The Mini is a bit more efficient (although not much), and has fewer things to lube. Maintenance on both is AMAZINGLY simple. 1 screw on the Mini, 0 on the PMR. The Mini is a bit tight if you have larger hands, and that would probably come down to the deciding factor for most people.

I totally agree, i was in the same boat and i chose the mini. I LOVE MY MINI i am a 6foot3 guy and it just fits perfect in my hands. Th UL frame i have to say is nothing thatt special, i am saying that with all the respect for DYE. They are both great markers it's down to you. And yes the PMR is a gas-hog. i would go for the mini (cough) (cough) lol. REALLY.

of corse anyone who owns one is going to vote for the one they have ^^^ really it comes down to personal preferance in this case, this question has been asked a lot, if i was in the market for one i would go PMR (even without the UL frame, but the UL frame is about as cool as sliced bread vs non-sliced) i dont like the fact that the mini didnt have as much R&D done on it at its release as it should have (they basically let the people who bought it first do the R&D for them) but as a marker now i dont have anything against it, just the company that builds it, so as a marker its fine and between the PMR and Mini, its up to you. my advise is to go to your local shop and hold them both, see what you like/dont like, see if you can shoot them both

Before the 09 PMR the answer was the mini hands down. Now that the PMR has some quality parts, it's a closer race. Your going to have to get your hands on both of them to figure it out. I'd personally go with the mini.
Why is the Mini's MSRP $325-350 and the Rail's is $270-280? Or at least I've seen those prices around the web. But everyone I hear, except for here, says the PMR is better. If it's better how come it's cheaper? I'm thinking of picking a mini up for my girlfriend and then I read all this stuff about trouble and she doesn't need her first real gun to be plagued with issues. Is the mini really quirky? If they are both equal guns what's with the price difference? IMO the mini looks a lot better, the PMR looks more like a low-end gun for some reason, IDK.
Which has the better trigger, 'cuz I've heard people say you're gonna want to put an after market on the PMR. (<I'm not talking about the '09 either, the one I'm looking at is pre-'09 with some of those plastic parts still.
Which has the better board out of the box? If I get the mini and she starts to really get into it I was going to probably get the virtue board, but which board is better out of the box?
they are both about the same from what iv heard. the mini had some problems early on, because simply put, they didnt do enoufgh R&D on the marker before its release (much like windows vista)
as for why its cheaper, idk, why is the vs1 so cheap when you get such a great marker? why does the a5 cost so much when you get so little?
my advise, go find a used one on ebay with a UL frame.

Like TRBO said try to hold them both. One of my buddies has a mini and he swears by it and well I like my rail. It seems to come down to preference. Also, isn't the mini a spool vaulve like the rail?
