I am getting a paintball gun very soon and i am debating with myself as to which gun would be better, the vibe or the ion...
They are both the same brand, and both very high quality guns, but some reviews say "the vibe is more reliable" or "the ion has a higher bps" etc.
But please give me some advice as to which gun you think would better better for a serious beginner in paintball. (i am very interested in paintball, i just don't have my personal gun yet)
Neither one are really high quality guns. Basically the Vibe is Co2 tolerant and the Ion no matter what Smart Parts says is not so you need to buy an HPA tank. The Ion is faster if that matters to you.
Vibe is cheaper. If you're only going to play rarely, are financially strapped, or must stick with co2, get the Vibe. It's a good marker for the price. Don't consider the Ion. Consider an Ion XE. While more expensive than the Vibe, it has eyes and is faster. I like eyes. The low force bolt is AWESOME in it's price range...but I'll take eyes over the low force bolt.
They are both fine choices for a beginner I just wouldn't call them very high quality compared to more expensive markers. I'd offer up my recommendations but you seem to be looking for electros and they aren't my style.
so if niether are very good, then do you have any recommendations for any other guns?
if you want to run co2, the spyder vs1
if you want to run hpa, the spyder vs2, if your budget can manage it, the PMR would give you the best preformance out of anything mentioned sofar

The ion was my third gun, damn you'll be lucky with both! But i do have some regrets with just going in a store and buying a gun. Look for more guns in the price range of whatever you want to spend. AND NEVER BUY A GUN WITHOUT LOOKING MORE UP.So, IMO the 200-250$ price range you should buy a used PMR(Proto Matrix Rail) if you can find one. I cant help you in the 150-199$ range. P.S. If you buy the Ion which are GREAT guns you might want to consider buying the Ion XE. It is a better improved ion, it has a WAY better feedneck and the big change is the BOB(bolt out back). Anyways, if you buy the ion people are going to flame you like "Ions suck" or "Get a real gun".
I hope this helped!

having played with and worked on most guns I have a few pointers.
The Vibe and SP-1
Basicly a simplified Spool valve gun and one of the easier ones to work on and maintain.
The electronics on this gun are also simplified so you can't realy screw up the settings.
No eyes
Can use both CO2 and HPA.
Lowest price of any SP marker
Ion (old style)and SP-8
A spool valve gun that is not easy for a beginner to work on as 3 screws have to be remove, eye board disconected, and 2 airline broken just to get to the inner body.
Board has 6 settings that can be changed but can be messed up if you don't know what your doing and there is no restore factory defaults.
Has beam break eyes
No mater what SP says only run this gun on HPA
Can be found on E-bay for less then a vibe but $200 new
Ion XE (new style)
A spool valve gun that has the same bolt and firing can as the vibe.
Board has 3 settings that can be changed but can be messed up if you don't know what your doing and there is no restore factory defaults.
Has beam break eyes
No mater what SP says only run this gun on HPA
About $250
spyder MRx and VSx
Stacked tube blow back gun that is easy to maintain.
Simple electronics
New styles have beam break eyes
VS & MR1 can CO2. How ever the 2 & 3 should use HPA
Depends on model $100 - $250
Proto Matrix Rail
Spool valve gun but can be a pain to maintain because it has alot of o-rings in the design. (Over pressurizing will cause o-rings to pop out of place and cause the gun to leak and getting some of the o-rings back in can be a pain)
Board has several settings that can be changed but can be messed up if you don't know what your doing and there is no restore factory defaults.
Has beam break eyes
$200
One reason I listed how the guns work is that the spool valve guns tend to have less kick then the stack tube guns
