Threshold or 06 etek

A rare opportunity might be coming my way, and i don't know what to do since i'm not that knowledgeable in the high end marker subject.

Went balling today and learned 2 acquaintances might be selling their markers to get new ones in december.

One marker is a red/black 2006 etek with a stiffi barrel and a cure bolt.

The other one is a sort of orange/black DP Threshold with a cp reg and an ape(?) board.

Both will be selling for about $400, etek might be a little more. The threshold has about 6 cases through it and i'm sure this is true. The etek has had a lot more use, and i'm positive it's seen more use than the owner claims it has.

I like the threshold because it's newer, less use and feels great, plus the markers is unbelievable simple. Then again the etek i suppose is a better marker but i'm worried about the use it has had.

So what do you think? Obviously I'm leaning more towards the threshold.

I'd take the Etek. Even if it has more use, there is more of a market for it to keep it running. The Threshold was limited production, and therefore little exists in the way of aftermarket. While that might not be a problem now, if you keep it for a decent time, it might become important. The Eteks were common as all get-out, and you will still be able to find parts for them several years from now without issue.

As long as it's been maintained properly, stacked poppets will shoot FOREVER without issues. Course, same is actually true of spools, there's just more to maintaining them.

That's sound advice, thank you very much. I'm going to negotiate the etek, seeing that new they go for ~600, i don't think i should be paying more than 400 for the 2006.
