I've been playing paintball for a while and I've been from woodsball to speedball and now I'm going back to woodsball. I'm looking into making a ghillie suit and going sniper. I'm looking for a marker that will act best as a sniper. I've been looking at an A5 because of the combustibility, but I don't really know where to look. I've currently got an Evil Omen 2.0 that is going to need selling, so a price quote would also be a big help as well.
Hahaha.
But no, the a-5 is a over priced 98c. Both the same thing but the a5 has a football to the side.
Also, the customizability doesn't boost your performance at all.
If you want a TRUE sniper get the first strike rounds by tiberius(sp?) but they cost so much.
Get any marker you want and get a barrel kit 12-16" and fresh good paint.
MR2 is pretty good but a 22 inch is over doing it. You'll find that it doesnt give you anymore range and its pretty long when your trying to move, and last, it sucks up air.
Look into a Smart parts SP 1 very smooth and overall great marker for the price. Then slap on a J&J or a CP or a Pepperstick or a Lapco bigshot. (i like the pepperstick) and your golden.
id get that. Id also get decent scope like 8x magnification. Try getting something in a Freak Barrel. They are expensive but they make your shots way more accurate.

I've heard good and bad things about getting a scope. Obviously regular, everyday paintball isn't anywhere as near accurate enough for a scope to be effective, but if you can get some high-quality paint and a really accurate gun would it be worth it?
Not even if you had tiberius first strike rounds and a barrel kit. Marker has nothing to do with accuracy. Scopes are only practical in paintball to look at stuff that's far away. But for that you might as well use binoculars.
agreed^^ if you can shoot it you will not need a scope, the range in paintball is just not that far, and paintballs are not that accurate. sights of anykind are usless in my opinion, aim down the side of the barrel (shoot by feel basically) barrels in the 12"-16" range are usefull, beyond that you are only making your marker into a crutch and will not gain any accuracy.
the best piece of advise i can give you is if you are a new player, forget about being a "sniper" you have the same range and the same accuracy as everyone else on the field, the painball "sniper"'s only advantage is thier stealth. in all reality the "sniper" position is the last one you should attempt to play, learn to be up front and how to remain covered first, if you dont know that how do you expect to stay covered while trying to stay hidden?

Not to mention there is no such thing as a true sniper in paintball anyway.
As stated above a longer barrel will NOT give you greater range. In fact if you have a 12" barrel you will get about the same amount of distance that you will with a 14" or 16" barrel. And it will not make you anymore accurate either. A good barrel kit with a 14" or 16" barrel will do you just fine. You will get accuracy through your bore mathing with the paint you are using. You might also want to consider using HPA if you aren't already...this will also give you better shot to shot consistency which will lend itself to accuracy.
As far as what marker you get...that's entirely up to you and how much you want to spend. There are plenty of great choices on the market today.
As far as a scope goes...it is completely useless in paintball. It will be one more thing to clean on your gun or just one more thing that can break.
dude i managed to hit a coke can with some monster ball and .691 bore barrel from like 20 feet. The scope wasn't even attached to my gun right.
and?
i fail to see the relavence of this post
20 feet is aproaching a minimum safe distance for most fields (as in they will not let you shoot at someone closer than that)

your eyes can also be very accurate at 20 feet so why cary extra weight on your marker?

you have to dial in a scope on anything, so if you set it for 20 ft. it'll be acurate at 20 ft. not 100 ft. and vise versa paintball varies in distances too much to use a scope just shoot from the hip
lol, if you need / are using a scope to aim at 20 feet then you have chose the wrong sport my friend...lol
But with that said, the only way you are going to get anywhere close to true sniper is with Tiberius first strike rounds, and for those you are talking $300-500 for the gun (depending upon the model you choose) and about 75 cents a shot to shoot them.
Once you get past that gun, every single gun after than in a controlled environment will shoot the exact same effective distance as every other gun on the market. No barrel, gun, or mod is going to give you any extra sniper ability and advantage from that point forward.
