Hey, just to start off I want to say that I am not new to the sport, but have been playing on and off for the past 4 years...
I just recently started playing woodsball / scenario but am looking to getting back into speedball.
I have looked at a few guns (PMR and WGP autocockers mainly)but don't know what marker would be best for a returning speedball player.
I'm looking for a marker within the price range of $400. I am willing to put up to $600 into the gun itself but currently I'm looking for the best marker choice, I want a good all around marker that averages a high BPS while maintaining a tight shot spread and limited ball breaks.
Also.. after I have decided a marker what would be the best hopper and barrel upgrade for it, along with a good (but inexpensive)air tank that isn't C02.
Buy used. In that range, Marq Closer, PM8, DM7, Quest, Ego7, might find SL74 Ego, Vice. My personal preference among those would go:
Quest > PM8 > Closer > DM7 > SL74 > Vice > Ego7. But they are ALL light, fast, accurate, and reliable if taken care of.
Barrels I'd suggest trying to find a used Stiffi Switch, Sly or Deathsticks kit. All carbon fibre so very light. Well made. I have all 3 and can vouch that all 3 are very high quality, I prefer the deathsticks the most, but that's because I like the color of front I got, no other reason.
You can get brand new hpa tanks (68/4500) for $99 if you don't mind the hydro date being a bit older. You can also get a 68/4500 for $119 now regularly.
id go dm7 over pm8, higher quality parts in the 7 imo, proto has never really been known for high quality parts, personally id stay away from the quest, while i know miller is going to hate me for saying that i just dont think they would be a great marker to learn on for a returning player, its going to be hard to find parts for those since they are not very common, i do love them and if you do as well then by all means ignore what im saying. dm parts are going to be easier to come by since they are still producing parts that will fit the 7 (most the dm9 parts will fit the 7) same goes for the ego markers up there. proto line got shut down(beyond the pmr and slg) so parts are going to get very rare very fast
as miller said they are all light fast accurate and reliable, go talk to your local shop and see if they carry parts for any of those, if they do that would put whichever marker you can easily get parts for a step ahead in my book

It's alright but nothing special. If you are willing to spend up to $600 for a marker you have a ton of options in the used market. If you want new you can pick up something like an Etek.
So $600 for everything, $300 on the other stuff than the gun. So about $300 for the gun max? I still say go used. Quest, PM7, DM6, Ego6, Etek2 all in that price range when buying used.
if you have $600 total to spend i would set $100 aside for a tank,$50 for a loader leaving you with $450 for a gun, i would then set $100 aside incase your marker needds a repair or you are insatisfied, if you are looking for a brand new marker i would go to Paintball - Cheap Paintball Guns, Gear and Paintball Equipment and get a dangerous power g3 tourny lit, it comes with a dangerous power g3, halo b hopper and your choice of the new ninja 68/45 air tank or the new ninja 48/45 airtank for $490 leaving you with $100 to spend on a barrel and mask,
however if you were to get a used marker i would like i said above set aside $150 for a tank/loader then another $100 for reapairs, leabing you with $350 for a good gun, i would reccomend getting a legend, they are great guns or an etek they are similar poppit valve guns, if you were looking for a quiet gun for a front player or something like that i would get
a dm6, or a marq, however if your buying a used gun take into mind that the marker will not hold its value so get a gun not many people have that way it will have higher resale value if you decide speedball is not for you
