Proto SLG 09 vs Proto SLG UL vs Smart Parts Epiphany vs Ions

That's it. Forgetting about price which one is the best. I'm a beginner but I plan to keep the gun for a while.

Proto SLG 09 vs Proto SLG UL vs Smart Parts Epiphany vs Smart Parts Ion XE vs Any of these ions (pretty much any Ion for under 300 (some on sale) from this site or any other Ion Paintball Guns at ActionVillage.com : Paintball)

Thanks for your input guys.

Im pretty sure we have about 3 more of these exact same threads but here's to sum it up.
Get the ion xe and add a new feedneck, barrel.
Get a pmr(07/08) and get a new back cap.
Get a mini and be done
Get a F8 and be done

Of course im talking about getting it used, great prices due to paintballs bad resale values

DBone I love your list but If you have a list just like that but no used guns what would it be. What would you recommend brand new for around 300 or less. I know Ion XE's are still being made but new PMRs are too expensive for me...

I also found some Ion Dynasty's on sale from 375 to 200 but I've heard not to trust Ions

I would go for a ion xe, a new feedneck and a barrel.
If you could I would go for a invert mini. The only thing the mini needs is some tri flow for the asa.
What you heard about ions only apply to the normal ones where you have to take the whole marker apart to get to the bolt.

Oh I see thanks. So which feedneck and barrel should I buy for it. Also does it need an upgrade on the trigger?

Some people will say it needs a new trigger, some people will like the stock. If you can, try one out before buying one, and that will tell you if you think it needs a new trigger. Q-lock would be easiest for the feedneck. They're moderately cheap, and almost anywhere that carries Ion or Shockers will carry it. Barrel is debatable. If you're trying to save money, a J&J Ceramic is a great choice. It's cheap, accurate, and cleans through breaks fantastically well. If you want to spend a bit more, some of the kits can be had under $100 (J&J Edge is one of my personal favorites).

Again tlmiller your a life saver. Do you have any additional barrel recommendation. Perhaps a certain kit that you like or something? Both cheap and expensive.

Look at this sig, click the "pics of my current barrels"
Chances are if he's keeping those it must be pretty good.
Look at the pepper stickz too, those are pretty good.

The length doesn't really matter, i'd stick to a 14 inch.
most barrels are pretty decent, i'd just stick with a 14 inch J&J, CP, pepperstickz, lapoc, etc. Barrel kits wouldn't really be worth it to a beginner.

The ONLY issue I have with Pepper Sticks (I have them too, I'm just technically selling them) is that they don't have anything smaller bore. .687 is their smallest.

Warrior sells a G-Loc clamping feedneck in ion threads for like $15

I have one for my cocker and it works great

For the J&J, just get the regular ceramic, the S2 costs more with no enefits besides looking "better"

Yeah I'm definitly getting that G-loc just trying to choose between Low-rise or not.

As for the barrels I'm probably gonna go with the J & J Ceramic Ion Barrel - 14 Inch ones. I don't see what a barrel kit could be useful for (I guess I'm still a noobie xD)
