Tippmann TPX Comparison

I was looking at reviews and videos about the Tippmann TPX pistol and it looks great! However, the reviews were mixed about how good the accuracy is and how many shots can be fired per 12g. Some say it can fire about 20, others say 32... Quite a bit of difference :P

I'm considering purchasing one, but I want to make sure I get a feel for how it works first because I don't have a huge budget.

How do you think it compares to something like a Spyder VS1? This is the marker I own now. I know it's hard to compare to a non-pistol marker, but I need something to gauge the performance of the TPX. Some things that made me unhappy with the VS1 are: 1) clunky to run around in with a large gun and extra pods. 2) I'm unhappy with electronic markers. mechanical markers have a better feel and are less of a hassle to manage on and off the field. 3) Large gun = big target. I've been hit in the hopper way too many times, so I think it's time to lose it.

I was thinking I might be able to replace my VS1 with the TPX since it is much lighter, smaller profile, less equipment to carry, ect. I think I would enjoy paintballing much more if I had more freedom to run and move around without worrying about all the equipment I have on.

Do you think it would be a good choice to use the TPX as a primary marker? Using 12g's and 8-ball mags could be an issue... And then there is the cost. Do you think it would be worth the buy? (total purchase will probably be around $300 or so for the gun, extra mags, and maybe a holster or satchel for 12g's and the mags)

Also, I've read that the TPX is picky with paint. What do you recommend for it? (remember, I'm on a budget, so I would like the cheapest, good paint :P )

Do not buy the TPX, I repeat do not buy the TPX

My friend has one (He's all Mil-sim ) and has NOTHING but problems with It, from the spring not pushing paint Into the breach from the clip to tons of barrel breaks, I haven't heard to many good reviews at all. I can elaborate but just trust me.

I highly suggest you play pump, stock class pump. Which uses 12 grams and feed tubes that hold 10 to a little more. If you go around playing just pistol It will not only be very ineffective but slightly silly. With pump you have a much wider range of markers and you will be very light.

I don't think that getting one would be a BAD idea, but I think getting a pump would be better. I'm considering getting a TPX myself, but I'm also Mil-Simmy. I have an M-16/M4, so I just want something to go on my leg. Lol.

I think stock class pump would be better for you.

i read up a bit on stock pump, and there are a few things i don't think i would like: you have to rock the marker for the balls to fall, many of them seem too expensive when i could just buy a semi-auto mechanical marker, and based on what i've read most pumps don't have a spring in the cocking mechanism so u have to push it forward as well as pull it back? this seems really unnatural...

is this stuff all true? if so, i think i'll have to find something else...

also, one of the pumps i was interested in was the ACI Maverick. is this not being produced anymore? I couldn't find anywhere that sells it.

Well you could play open class pump with a pocket hopper.
Even though a pump marker Is expensive they will pay off In the end because of how much paint you don't use.
