A-5 or Cocker

I am new to the boards and looking for some help from the public. I have had an A-5 for a couple of months, its stock except for the CP one peice barrel. I've taken it to the local field a number of times, and I've gotten to the point where I want to upgrade it, (N2, e-grip, double trigger). But last Saturday I used a rental cocker for a few games, and now I'm rethinking upgrading the A-5 and going with a VF cocker and build that up. I play woodsball, local field, and am looking to enter tournys in the next few months. I'm not going to have 2 guns. I know that a stock cocker is going to take alot of money to upgrade, that doesn't matter. Also does a stock cocker need a electric hopper, or could I get away with low grade hopper till I e-blade the gun? Thanx

You will need an electric hopper if you get a cocker. Depending on how often you go paintballing, if you start to go a lot, then buy a new gun. But if you only go a few times every once in a while, I would stick with the A-5. And also do not buy a cocker, I have one but i do not like that much anymore. And I am trying to sell mine(if ur interested, private message me). I would go with a different gun instead of the cocker, because it will confused the living daylights out of you since ur a noob(or it may not). But i would go with a mag or a impy. But my advice to you is that you should look around for a while and look for a higher end used gun. And no matter what gun you buy you will always need a electric hopper.

while there are disadvantages to a cocker, matniencce is not one. In my experience the cocker has been easier to perform normal matnience on then a spyder clone. for instance while the spyder clones have multiple pieces to take out, clean, oil, and put back in the cocker has one(the bolt).

the biggest complaints i have heard from people about cockers is that they either need timing or that they're unreliable.
If you buy it at a store they will usauly time it for you and if not they're multiple guides to timing on the internet which simplify the process. Also worth mentioning is that timing happens very infrequently, only once the marker is new and aftyyer you have screwed around with the pnuematics(which you shouldnt do) or upgraded it.
As far as reliability i have found it much more reliable then a BKO or a spyder clone both of which require more matnience and have lesser production standards.

I would suggest either buying a cocker or an impulse. The impulse is another nice gun that is superior to the cocker stock but is $100 more. In my opinion the impulse is the cheapest, well made electro-pnuematic marker on the market. keep in mind that to run any of these you will need either anti-siphoned CO2 or HPA(recomended).
