They are both great beginner guns. They are both pretty durable and low maitnence, and they are reliable. Really, they are pretty much the same quality and are good and bad in most of the same ways. I recommend just going to your local shop, and just tell them that you guys are new and are looking for new markers to get you into the sport and what they would suggest, also make sure to hold, and shoot them if you can.

Well, depending on what type of paintball you were to play could make a huge impact on the type of gun you get.
For example, if you are going to play woodsball, i recommend the Tippman. However, if you are going to play speedball, i recommend the spyder.
Thats just my 2 cents.

yea...spyder imagines are great for beginners...the only thing about those is that you will have to buy an electronic hopper (vieloader 9v-12v revolutions are good) and those arent too much...somewhere between 40-60 bucks depending on where you get it

Well, first of all, I would have to agrre with renting a gun at your local fireld to play it, so you know if you even like it, then if you do like it you can get markers, both guns are pretty nice, but you can upgrade the Tippmann with barrels, tanks, hoppers, bolts, drop forwards, grips, etc. more then any other gun in the world.

mostly every rental at almost every paintball place is T-98 becuase it is low maintanence, very upgradable gun. so that gun is pretty decent for a begginer gun.....i dont kno about the kingman though...i jus started also.

Get a Dragun, it costs about the same and it has electric triggerframe and it has eyes.

Do not Get a Pirnaha!!! I can't stand mine. I started playing Pball two weeks ago and already I got to get rid of it. I even got one of those good e-trigger ones. Hate it!! Nothing but problems. Borrow a gun from a friend who is a serious baller or if you think you will ply for a while go all out. I do not believe in starter guns becuase it almost makes you want to quit. I wasted almost $600 on my Piranha andaccessories that could have went to Cocker accessories.

tippmans are great and so are spyders...tippmans are easier to take care of then spyders...if you just want to play paintball and dont want to spend a lot of time cleaning then get the 98c

tippmann 98 custum u can throw it off a mountain freeze it. burn it. plus many more things and it will still work.
I ewouldnt do that stuff if i were u though.
But the tippy 98 custom is one of the best begginer guns out there. A word of advice is if your goin to get into it heavily dont waste your time on upgrading the 98 custom instead get generic upgrades like an Electronic hopper, pods, HPA tank.

What are you talking about? They're practically the same gun.

I recommend the Spyder regardless of where you expect to play most because the Spyder will perform fine in both environments whereas the Tippmann will not perform particularly well in Speedball unless you upgrade it accordingly.
