My first gun
I want to buy a gun and i only want to spend around $150 without upgrades (I do plan to upgrade the barrel). What would be the best gun i could get?
Also does anyone know how good the Spyder Tl Plus is?

Torid would probably be the best if you wanna buy something new.
If you buy used, then you could probably get a 02/03 VF cocker or upped Torid/Torid-X.
The tl+ is a mech spyder. It's going to be as good as any mech spyder. Unless you're getting it well under $100, you'd be better off getting a spyder imagine, some form of e-pirhana, or the torid I mentioned.

Torid-X is $200. Torid is $140. Still a nice gun for the price. Just don't expect to be able to shoot as fast while retaining accuracy and fps if you're going against things like BKO's and Imps.

what do the batteries in the handles do on the guns that have them?
I dont think i could get the torid or the torid x because they go full aut and the park i go to doesn't allow full auto guns.

Battery powers the sensor that tells it when to fire and powers teh actuation of the selenoid.
torid isn't full auto.
Torid-X has tourney-lock (locks out full auto).

98c or any e-spyder. The spyder imagine is only like $100. Although it's cheaply made, it's still a 13bps electronic gun. The torid is faster, lower pressure, and I think the imagine is a led instead of lcd, but don't hold me to that. Torid is slightly better, but more expensive.
Unless you really prefer woodsball to speedball, I wouldn't really look to hard at the tippy's. although they're basically unbreakable, they're not very fast, not as many upgrades for them as torids/spyders, yet cost more while losing their value just as fast, so that you still won't get ANYTHING for them if you decide to eventually sell it.

spyders are spyders. The internals are all the same, so they're all going to perform more or less the same.
I'd recommend an electronic gun because most modern players are going to have them, and it can get VERY frustrating if you just start out and are so horribly outgunned. Play with an electronic spyder until you start to develop skill, then think about going to a mech gun. I know, the opposite of what most people recommend, I personally think it's better that way.
As far as accuracy goes, since 90% of accuracy comes down to paint-barrel match and barrel quality, the torid will be much more accurate stock than a spyder. But if you get a good barrel on them, they'll be basically identical.

In that case, the torid and the spyder would end up being so close to identical in accuracy that there wouldn't be any point in mentioning the difference.

Torid's not a bad gun and all but it doesnt have eyes. you can get a Dragun T. E. S. used off ebay probaboly upgraded [it has eyes] and its almost the exact same gun as a Torid X, except it doesnt have the rubber grips, multiple firing modes, and clamping feedneck. I strongly recommend you to the Torid X, which is the best of the Three. if you dont want the ToridX, then get the TES. TES's are better than Torid's IMO.

Yeah they are, but he said he wanted new, and it'll be VERY difficult to find a TES still new.
