There is a newer vid at the Smart Parts site. There is a site w/ a guy firing one in the back of his store and was ripping a good 15+ bps it sounded like. (checking for the URL) I think it was posted on the vid thread or maybe it was a Google search.
I would be interested in the dusty desert performance of the Ion. It looks pretty solid to me as far as dirt resistance. I like Mags for machanical markers and Shockers for electro. The simple design seems like it would be good for desert play. Not sure how electronic spool valves will work in the dust.
Does the Ion have a spool valve like the others SP markers? Tuff call. I will have to find someone local that owns one so I can try it.

Took one out for about 20 mins at Stalingrad in pretty much freezing temps and a fair amount of snow on the ground and it performed like a champ, seemed pretty consistent. Trigger is... lame, ramping was easy to keep max'd out though. Nice marker definatly worth the $285 from what I saw.
Pezzer, I dunno about desert, I've never used a paintball marker in the desert... but I've taken my electros into heavy rainfall, mud, sand indoors and outdoors, snow. Speaking of snow I had the entire front block pretty much encased in snow, no effect on operation. The board has gotten gooey paint on it leaking through the handgrip, again no effect on operation.
Short of submerging it into a river I'll take it almost anywhere

Hummmm....it could be that they incase their main boards on a waterproof coating or glue even. Even a low voltage regulator or transistor will short out with only minor moisture exposure. Seems like they must be protecting the electronic board from paint and moisture somehow.
Otherwise you should not have been able to keep your electro functioning well in the rain. Eventully the water will find it's way into the marker frame through small creases and screw holes and mess up somthing.
Ok everyone! Oscarine said it is ok to take your electro marker in the rain. So if you do and it breaks talk to him, lol.

*going out in the rain, wait it hardly rains here...going out in the snow, er' sand mostly now*

Sure the possibility exists, I take the risks because I can afford to pay the consequences, the only time I'm playing in rainfall is at scenarios generally, and I'm paying like 150-200$s to play so yeah the possibility is there to break a $150 dollar board, it hasn't happened yet, and while I'm reasonably careful I don't hawk over the thing like oh noes its sprinkling time to go find the mech.
I've seen pretty much any type of marker malfunction or have problems, this is mostly due to user negligence or blatent idiocy. Of all the markers I've ever owned in well over a decade now the worst thing I've had happen is a Reloader B board dying. Common sense or maybe divine intervention has saved me from the rest I guess.

Maybe both Oscarine...
I herd a rumor that God plays paintball actully. He is in need of a back player too. Why to you think Bud Orr is constantly looking over his shoulder for the grimreaper, lol. *sorry Bud, I had to poke fun ya' a bit*
I think your experance is valid though Oscar. It may be that elecrto markers are not that bad in faul weather after all.

There is really no need to field strip it because of the eyes. But its pretty easy to take it apart quickly.
