Prostock is mech, go for fubars cocker, good deal.
Ion is a new low priced turney marker from Smart Part (they make the Shocker).
Its main feture is bang for buck. It is a electro frame marker w/ break beem eyes for anti-chop and shoots 17 bps out of the box (less than $300). At that price point there just isnt any other marker on the market that can compete with it.
For speedball it would be perfect and I am waiting to see how they might be for woodsball. Personally I play rec-woodsball mostly so electros don't have any appeel to me. For a mechanical marker the WGP Pro-Stock 05' is a great marker with tons of upgrades available. Personally for about $100 more or so you can get a AGD RT-ULE Automag that weighs about 2.5 lbs and it the most consistant mach-marker out there. Zero rampup, I saw a croney result of: 270, 270, 271, 270. No kidding. Talk about ball on ball shooting.
More money for the Mag up front but they are already fully upgraded out of the box anyway. Only things you can do are cosmedic only. It's got the most consistant reg/valve out there. Check them out.
I've always wondered about the woodsball vs speedball marker debate, now other than say "Realistic" markers, it seems odd to me anyway to distinguish between the two... I play airball and woods/rec/scenario with the same markers.
In my experience, unless your a nimrod, exercising a little bit of caution by not say... throwing your marker into a 3 foot deep puddle of water, any reasonably made marker is going to hold up.
Strangely of all the electronic components on a marker that has ever failed for me, it was a Reloader B board
Occarine; It is a simple debate for me. I dont want a electro for rec/woodsball play because it is one more thing to go wrong in the field. Or at best might want a re-charge or a new battery.
BEFORE you guys give me the numbers that show you get WAY more shots off of a battery charge than I ever would with the largest tank, I know this. My point is just a simple engineering concept. The less things to go wrong, the better. Thats my only reason. Here in the desert we dont have to sweat moisture much but the dust and dirt in this area is a pain.
The speed vs woods play style argument is still mostly personal preffrence. Any marker can be used for either type of game. There are some markers that are a bit better for speedball vs some that would not as good (bps speed mostly). Otherwise that is a good observation Oscarine.
Woodsball markers can be used on the speedball field and vice-versa. However size, weight and bps speed might make one a bit better than another for a type of play. Last weekend I was witness some kids w/ basic Spyders and rental markers totaly dominate some adults that thought they were all that w/ there mil-sim looking markers and $1500 space guns.
I think experance within the game won it for the kids on this day. They were regulars and the adults just ordered their equipment and hadn't played much apparntly. Over half of adult team was shot out on the break and this was a very large field. Not your typical speedball field of 100x200 feet or so. This one was setup for two flag CTF. Kids took all but one round out of five.
Skills over marker apparntly. I think this has been said before...
Reverse it would the kids have won with the 1500$ markers?
For me Electronic is going to give me less PLAY problems than a Mech, Eyes so less chops, can't shortstroke, less timing to do.
I never payed 1500$s either, I just go with reliable used markers.
IE my Karnivor was $700 pretty much the same for the Osiris and the DC1 so a small premium to pay over a mech, heck I paid the most yet for the X-Mag :P. I still own Mech markers don't get me wrong but Skill level being identical, the Electro is going to probably win.
My bet would have been, YES. Those kids were quite a coordinated bunch of "noobs".
No, they couldn't have been that new. They moved and communicated better than the cockier adults (lol, they were still younger than me). It was just a matter of better tactics and experance.
I did talk with the older guys after they come off the field to point out a few things they kept doing wrong. No rush for the forward bunkers off of the break was their biggest. Except for the last round that they did win, they never had a guy even close to the 30, let alone near midfield. The round they won was the strangest of all. There was a lucky double eleminationat the break when the speed of the space guns finally caught up to two of the kids going for the tape and snake.
From there on it was 5 vs 3 and it was still close as one of the older guys rushed the 50 after the lucky break they got. And was hit almost as soon as he took his first step for the bunker. It was a bit stalemated for about 8 minuets and uncountable ammount of paint was in the air. Then another "lucky" break for the adults, the kids were low on paint and air. That was about it for them at that point.
^^ So yeah than your saying they have more skill, what I was trying to point out though is that player skill being the same perhaps the $1500 space gun woulda done better for them than the Spyder.
Oh I am SURE they could have found use for $1500 space guns. Now to confess one of the kid's Spyder looked like it was worth $1500 w/ all the ups he had on it. Fast and fancy laser guided paintball goodness. *tounge in cheek*
Skill is still king but firepower is never a bad thing in speedball is it? In fact the older guys prolly would not have won the one round they did except for the tack-driving 15+ bps Angels and Shockers they were sporting. I might have even got one of those kids off of the break with a marker like that too. Nah, I'm just not that good or lucky. lol
so.....can u tell me if the Proostock Autocoker is good....?? lol...u guys just went off huh...

Yeah the new '05 Pro Stock looks nice price is good, milling is nice, I'd like to handle one in person. Reguardless though its a Mech, for the same price if I wanted to stay mech I might get a CCM Series 5. Check out used Electros though for around 500-700 you can buy pretty much any style electro cocker out there short of a Nexus.
i was going to to get a used cocker in good condition for really cheap (actually i might still be getting one) but my parents recently decided that if im going to blow all my money on something so "stupid" (they dont see how a "toy" can cost over $300 and up into the $1000's) then it might as well be new and they would give some money to help pay for it. so i think i might as well get the newest toy from WGP, but i have a few questions.
bolt length: evo or standard?
it says the asa is integrated, i wanted a 15* asa anyways but im wondering if this has anything to do with stuff like removing the trigger frame/timing rod/three way or taking out the valve?
and also what threading do the feednecks use? i would assume autococker since its made by wgp and all but i guess anything is possible... and yes this is one of the first (if not only) stock autocockers to come with a threaded removeable feedneck.
finally, how are the stock pneumatics/internals? i see that they have finally provided a stock cocker with an externally adjustable LPR and 3 way which is definitely a plus, and it comes with the black magic inline reg which is another plus, but i have yet to see anything about internals other than the delrin bolt.
overall it looks good but i wanna see some opinions (along with answers to my questions ) but dont tell me "just get an ion" i am not looking for speed just yet. and afterall this is a REVIEW, not which gun is better. review the damn gun and stop spilling out all your ion propaganda
