Viking Review
To start off let me say this, since I have seen the video of Froth's Viking shooting 40 CPS ( I would link you but the host went down) I have always wanted a Viking. I loved how simple they looked and was convinced by the amazing reviews they got.
First Impression
When I first gassed up my Viking it leaked, an o-ring was missing. I wasn't all that alarmed because I wasn't the first owner and it was only an o-ring. Replaced the o-ring and gassed it up again. I was blown away. The combination of speed, little kick, and quiet made me love my Viking.
First Day At The Field
I had my first team practice. Got back into paintball because I was offered a spot on a team and I figured why not, so before this I havn't played since August. I got to the field, put a 2 drops of oil in the ASA, dry fired, loaded my hopper and went to the chrono. Got +5/-5 over the chrono, which isn't too bad. Then again I was using a .694 bore barrel with .687 paint. I went out for the first game. As the refs were getting rope burn while I was mastering the snake I was getting remarks from spectators such as "That Viking is nice.", "That gun rips.", and "What kind of gun is that!?". I got off the field and everyone wanted to shoot it, everyone was impressed. The only negative comment I got was its weight issue. The day ended, not a complaint or bad moment with my Viking and I got roughly half a case off a 68/3000 hotfill. Not bad...
Disassembly
When I had the missing o-ring I had to take it apart. Their were a few things I liked, a few things I didn't. The main thing I didn't was the fact that you needed to buy a toolkit, or make a makeshift one, in order to even think about taking it apart. After that it was pretty easy. Where everything went was self-explanitory if you have the least bit of common sense and payed the least bit of attention when taking it apart. Another bad thing is when taking out the LPR it is easy to clip the o-rings. Some oil and a small allen key to press down the o-ring made everything easier, but takes practice to make it go quickly.
Basically the whole left tube (when looking from the back) is hollow except for the LPR. The right tube has the valve, ram, springs, etc. The hollow tube helps reduce kick.
Maintenance
Maintenance could not be any easier. Before you play put a few drops of oil in the ASA and dryfire 100 times (shouldn't take more than 10 seconds). After you play do the same, put a drop behind the ram (drop through where the pullpin slides down), squeegee out the chamber, and clean your eyes. Takes 10 minutes tops.
Reliablility
I've used this 4-5 times and it has never failed me, not one complaint.
