I am getting back into the sport... I need you input.
This is my first post so I just want to say hello first..
I have been out of the sport for a while now (3-4 years) and I am just getting back in. Before I took a break I picked up an 04 Autococker, I loved it! It was only a mechanical trigger but I did find it fast with my Evo loader and it shot straight with my barrel kit. I went to the paintball store the other day and was overwhelmed with the changes! It seems that the performance difference between expensive markers and cheaper makers has become allot closer. So my question today is, what are the better markers? Which have the durability and speed? What markers are still using the autococker threads so I can use my existing barrel kit. Any information is appreciated.

a huge majority of guns now use autococker threads, so you're in luck there.
For the casual player the mid-end market offers so much performance, the difference now is mainly in build quality.
The mini is a great mid-end gun, a pm6 can be found cheap and of course the high ends like the marq, borg, dm7 are all solid guns.

how much are you willing to spend on a marker alone? also realize that a hopper to keep up with it is going to cost $70-$120 and that you'll need a compressed air tank.

I already have an evo hopper (the egg one) and a compressed air tank.

sweet, but you still haven't given a pricerange to work with. the eggy is a decent loader, but you'll find it lags behind every true forcefed hopper. I used one for a long time then broke down and got a halo and there was an instant change.

ah now we're talking.
For that price you won't find many new markers except the ION, the Promaster and the spyder VS2.
but if you look used the markers are nearly endless:
Timmies, Bushmasters, electro cockers, some DM4's, DM3's...the list goes on and on and on.

I got back in the game a while back as well. I wasn't completely certain, so I wnet with an Ion for the economic reason.
It's worked out great. It preformed well out of the box and has a huge upgrade family. So it doesn't hoop your wallet right away, and you can really make it "your" gun.
