Help Me Choose A Gun To Get Back in to PB
I don't know if anyone around here remembers me (I haven't been on in years) but I came back to ask a question. I haven't played in maybe three-four years but some of my friends have been pushing me to get back in. I want to know what a good gun would be to get back in. I don't want something very expensive, but something to get the job done, stay in one piece, and not require a lot of maintenance. I will be playing some woodsball as well as in some of the indoor speedball places around here. All I have left is some old misc. parts (crap jt mask, some foregrips/regs, oil, condom, pod/podpack, etc.). So I basically need everything (gun, loader, tank, maybe new mask). I'd like to keep the total under say $300. Thanks in advance.
Edit: Looked around. How are these:
Ion
Vibe
Proto SLG

well if you want to go hard core woodsball try a Tippmann a-5 or a Tippmann 98 custom. With that you'll just need a gravity feed hopper. If you want a little more speedball-type then get an ion xe or an epiphany (both made by SmartParts) they don't need much maintenance but they will need electro hoppers. i would go for the 98 custom if i were you because woodsball is usually cheaper day-to-day than speedball (paint, air). Also c02 works with 98 customs n a-5s and c02 tanks are cheaper. sorry if I'm telling stuff you already know, I'm trying to pretend that you're a new player.

Why not also consider the VS2? The price is close, or slightly more for the VS3 on actionvillage, and that includes the VS2 frame.

it's defitanly more user friendly, but it required high pressure air. If your'e looking to use co2, get a VS1.

vibe is like a 13 bps ion. just get the SLG, you will be more then happy with it. but if you wanna get an ion, get an epiphany. they are similar guns(the epiphany was built offa the ion line) but the Epiphany has a different air flow and it comes stock with an on/off. just buy a QEV(make sure it's the one for the epiphany n not the ion, I wasted 20 bucks doing that) and a feedneck and that thing will be ripping.

my friend has one, i sorta forgot about the epiphany for a second when i was posting. The epiphany is like $250 now (i think). Good gun. Doesn't need that much maintenance. Sexier than the ion too.

the epiphany is a little more expensive but requires a little less maintenance. It's your choice. But you say you're going to do woodsball so i say epiphany (less maintenance)

I take it you really don't what you are talking about? The Proto SLG is MORE expensive than the Epiphany, with the retail on the epipahny being 200 and the Proto SLG being 250. The manitenance on both makers are both very simple. On Reliablity the Proto SLG takes it aganist the Epiphany. Proto/Dye>Smart Parts. The markers performance is comparing night to day.
A Martrix>Upped Ion
All in all go with the Proto SLG.

SLG is now 200 bub, the PMR is 249. and you know nothing about epiphany's. they are based off the ion, but are far FROM one. so your statement above has just been made pointless. I haven't personally shot an SLG but have heard it is just like a PMR, but louder and slightly more kick. and my epiphany shoots just like a PMR in my hands, except the PMR I shot had a UL frame on it so it was more comfortable. but just get an epiphany, they are cheaper then the PMR and shoots just like it.

The hp operation of the epi makes me lean toward the slg. The only upgrade I'd want for either is the feedneck (at least for now). I'm not sure.

the HP jsut helps with cycling rates, it doesn't effect efficiency at all from what I am seeing. I am still getting a little under half a case from my 45/45, jsut like any other ION I have shot.

Check my EOS review.
It's basically a slightly upped Epiphany, but it is quite out of your price range
I don't know why, but SmartParts has amzing CS, and whenever I got a question, I just get on PBNation and shoot them a PM, and they get back to me about 1-3 days later.
Get an Epiphany and be happy. The higher PSI is so that the Epiphany will never encounter shoot down. Since it's at a higher psi, it recharges faster, but if you really want to, it will still operate at about 160 PSI (Ion pressures). And yes, I know that for a fact. I've tried with my EOS.

it will operate but you will have to turn up your dwell which kills ROF. the higher PSI is perfectly fine with it, and I can walk a donkey's ass with it. and go directly through SP site for CS, they get back to me within the day I have posted my problem. and as long as you have the box your gun came in, they will repair it for free.
