Best intermediate-player Spyder???

I'm a returning paintball from 10 years ago and so any things have changed!! I'm in the market for a new gun. I'm looking for a Spyder that doesn't have issues with official field-play regulations, has upgradability/customization abilities, variety of firing options, and yes...reliability.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I think you need to look at the spyder VS2, fits your needs quite nicely imo.

I agree. I just brought a VS2 and its great. Its pretty cheap now at 130...which is good becasue you will need to buy a HPA tank and a fast loader.

if he wants different firing modes the rsx would be the way to go, its a vs2 with a tado board, all the ramping modes are on it stock

o wait! i just realized you also have the other thread about spyders, i also mentioned the electra in that thread and i think (someone correct me if this is wrong) it also has all the ramping modes stock, between the rsx and electra, the electra would be a nicer marker but again as i said in your other thread, the PMR is going to be a better choice, so really it all comes down to what kind of a buget you have and if your comforatable with something like a pmr

Yeah, not that there is alot of difference between the guns, but I was looking at the Smart Parts Ion XE as well as a Spyder. Anyone has some preferences?

depends on what you want, the ion will shoot smoother, be quieter but parts will be more expensive and it will require more maintanance. the spyder will be easier to work on and depending on which one you get, co2 friendly.

Spyder MR1. I have an MR1, heavily mod'd, and I've been extremely happy. (I've been pondering getting an MR2. Anyone have a comment it?) As Trbo implies, the Spyders are good to start with, and a lot less expensive in the long run. For me that means they're just plain more fun to play with, both on and off the field. You can fiddle with them when you're bored at home and not break the bank. You can knock them around out in the field and not worry too much. A Spyder will take a lickin' and just keep tickin'...

Kar id say look into something else, PMR sounds like it would be good for you, if you want to stick with spyders the new electra, or a vs2

if you want something just so you can mod it, the A5 will be an infinate sorce of money sucking fun then

Gotta admit, the money-sucking fun is a lot of it.

for some it is, while its fun to upgrade something like the a5, it has its limits (personally i think those limits are reached as you take it out of the box)

but if i had crazy amouts of cash id milsim out a a5 just to see the looks on the noobs faces as i walk out onto the field with it, after a game of playing with it id probably pick my dm6 back up though and let some kid borrow it (im sure that would make some kids day)

Yeah...I guess I just enjoy nickel and diming my Spyder up. Milsims look nice, but then you have to be careful what trees and rocks you run into. The Spyder's ding'd up, but it's comfy.

I let a little kid play a free for all round with my Ego when I showed him how to walk the trigger properly he almost pissed himself from glee. Let me tell you a 10 year old kid armed with an Ego after a day spent with a rental 98C is a true menace to one and all within range. I always try to let the little newbies try something better than a rental I think showing them that not all markers are rusted out piles of suck does nothing but good for the game. I'm always worried that after a day spent trying to get their marker to stop leaking or jamming they will go and try something lame like laser tag instead.

lol thats good, iv kinda wanted to get another hopper and tank, that way i could throw them on my impulse (i bring it as a backup) and let someone use it, sure its heavy, but its reliable and fast, not to mention most people freak out when they touch the trigger if all they have ever used are mechanicals before
