Smart Parts Ion xe or Spyder VS2 ??

Getting back into paintball after about a 10 year lay-off. Looking at these two guns or the best gun around $200 or less. All help appreciated.

Personally, I'd go XE. Although much more maintenance, they can be upgraded into much nicer markers than a VS2. But if you don't have a big budget for upgrades (XE basically requires a new feedneck and trigger), then the VS2 is one AWESOME value at under $100.

the vibe is a downgrade from the xe

Id go xe as well if i were forced into that spot, i do love the spyder but i feel the xe will give you more preformance for the money

What about the Spyder RSX or the new Electra?? Is the RSX worth the extra few $$?

its a vs2 with a different board, just gives it more firing modes thats all and the electra is super overpriced for what it is, it uses the same technology as the vs2, and i highly dobt it can manage 30bps like they claim. its lighter, looks cooler and is probably faster but nothing thats worth 250

Thanks. I really like the looks of the Electra but not for twice the price of a V2.

Is the XE better? Why more maintenance? I assume it comes with a better barrel to start? Definately nicer looking.

It will have less kick. With an inexpensive upgrade (QEV - $15) it will get better efficiency and kick even less.

the XEs maintanance will be a little more difficult but i dont think its anything you wouldnt ba able to manage, never buy a marker based on teh stock barrel, $30 will get you a J&J ceramic anyway, they are the best bang for the buck on the market, id take one over anything $60 and under.

go with the XE, its quieter, faster, smoother and imo looks better than the vs2

(gosh i hope im not becoming a SP fan)

Biggest gripe everyone had with ions was the taking apart to clean and tinker. I think it's ok to like the XE as it addresses some of those issues, but i wouldn't call you a fan just because of it.

I love spyder markers (as you can see in sig) Youre going to get a great value gun and i have never been let down. the newer models you can get the ACS bolt and on mine i have never broken a single ball.
Also you can get features like a rocking trigger frame for like $50ish off of ebay which is AWESOME for if you go to a place that wont allow full electronic auto.
hell you might even go faster than the auto with it!
But in all seriousness. i have a spyder. My friend has an ion.

He always loses.

any vision system trumps a AC bolt anyday, the rocking trigger is a joke that doesnt make you shoot any faster than a normal e-trigger and teaches you bad form, just because you beat your friend who has a ion speaks nothing about the markers you both have, it just means you are better at paintball, if you both switched markers you would still win.

auto modes are dying out in favor of ramping modes

I think I have decided to go with a V2 and put a few $$ more into a better tank and a new barrel. For the amount I will get to play each month I can't see spending a lot or more than needed.

Thats a good decision. The VS2 is $90 now, and at that price its a steal for what you get.
