It's the same thing as every other Tippmann just with Picanty rails. If you want a Tippmann, get a 98. If you want a NICE gun and are willing to buy used, get a PM6, PM7, Quest, Fusion or something like that. If it must be new, save yourself a few hundred and get a Spyder VS2 for $100...better than the X7 by a bunch, and quite a bit cheaper. For a better marker, you could get a Ion XE for $200. Or if you must have a milsim look, get a SP-1. But don't waste your money on an X7.
I just bought my first marker the other day and it turned out to be the Tippman a5 over the x7. It was friday feb. 6th, I went to fleet n farm and was going to grab the a5 anyways until I saw the x7 behind the counter. I opened the box and saw it came in 3 pieces and it looked so heavy, still I brought it to checkout. While I was waiting in line ready for checkout, things just kept going thru my mind, "hmm this gun is kind of expensive ($300) vs the a5 @ 180." So when I got to the cashier I told them I wanted to exchange it for the a5. The reason Id say get the a5 is because its about $120 cheaper, is lighter, is a lot less bulky, shoots the same (has same internals as the x7) and is more customizable. The only thing the x7 has over the a5 is the milsim (military simulation) look and their cyclone is rated @ 20-22 bps vs a5's 17 balls per second, still you're going to have to upgrade cyclones if you want a faster rate of fire so the x7's would be kind of useless anyways. Hope that helps.
i vote pm line, vs2 or ion xe rout, stay away from tippmann altogether

I'd say if you get the chance...try out both. I have the whole Tippmann line and absolutely never have any issues with any of my markers. To be honest...I still don't understand why people dislike them. For scenario/woodsball, Tippmann's are great.
Either way, the only thing I don't like about my X7 is the weight...it's a lot heavier than my A5. Like others said, they are basically the same besides look and the X7 cyclone has a faster rate. If you get a chance, try them out and try out other markers...as you can see, not everyone likes Tippmanns so it may not be right for you.

But at least I only buy when I find a good deal.
Yeah, I have too many. And will probably continue to amass more. I'd LOVE to get rid of a few...but I have issues convincing myself to part with any of them that don't suck.
LOL but i am doing the exact same thing! the dye rotor and new (well used but you know) tank arrived last night along with the tank cover
btw miller i gota take some pictures of the superstock for you, it is shaping up quite nicely, a bunch of blue mixed in sofar, drop, macro line, detent and feedneck and with the empire or the rotor on top (empire with blue suicide shell and the blue version of the rotor) it is looking sweet. i may just throw it up for ratings so keep an eye out for it (waiting for some custom grips). o hey, what was the msrp of the superstock?
