I've had both, ad I'm going to go with F8, because it's not a pile of junk.
F8 IMO best value in paintball. G3, IMO, is overpriced at $200. Horrible trigger, horrible efficiency, too much kick for a spool valve, horrible board, and SOME users have had issues with the eye detent screws being too long and chopping the front oring on the bolt.
ok, im going to go with F8, but at the same time, the G3 isnt that bad. The trigger is adequate, but needs upgrading (but most guns need an upgraded trigger). Air effecieny isnt as bad as it sounds, my friend owns a G3 and he gets pretty good effeciency actually, maybe he just got a unsually good one. The board is just like any typical board, i think around 3-4 fire modes.
Lots of issues with boards optical sensors not sensing. Also not enough adjustability to try to tune efficiency.
Trigger is WAY too sloppy for a marker that was released at the $400 price point. Even at $300, it's just as sloppy as the Invert Mini, sloppier than the F8 trigger, and not as comfortable in most peoples opinions as either of those other 2 triggers in the same price point.
G3 IMO. But it's personal preference. I like how small the G3 is, and I like how spoolies shoot.

Which is true? Do you think the F8 is better or the G3, the only reason I ask is because I am considering buying one of the two and on the other forum you said the g3 was better.
The F8 was released before the G3 was, but either way, I own a G3 SE and I love the gun, it has never given me any problems to date, fast, super light, reliable, super easy to do maintenance on, gun/barrel is pretty accurate right out of the box. And since I got the SE, it came with a new board and trigger (the main draw backs of the standard G3). Although I have shot an F8, I don't personally own one so I cant give a fair assessment as to a head to head battle (even though a head to head is still hard because they are 2 dif gun designs, one is a spool the other is a poppet), but I can say I truly do like my G3 SE, and I would buy it again if I had to do it all over again.

For the G3 to be even acceptable, you would need a new trigger (terrible side to side slop), new microswitch board (the opti sensor doesn't always see and can bounce like crazy), new bolt (stock bolt is crazy inefficient), and a new reg if you got a bad one.
All of that will get it to perform like a stock F8 for more money.
Point is, F8 is cheaper and better.

that was before I owned a G3, that's why my opinion changed. My later opinion is after I owned both.
How much are you paying for it? Cause if its about 400 i'd go for the SE if your REALLY want the g3.
But good barrels would be cps, peppersticks, j&j's, dye's, Protos, most after market barrels are close. Just get good grade paint.
why are you getting the g3 after reading this whole thread?
barrel depends on how much you want to spend on it

I would defiantly go F8, had an F7 and loved it. Buddy had a G3 and he didn't have the best experience with it. IMO the G3 seems alot more mass produced (less quality). Are you wanting to get a poppet or spool?

ya i realized that but if he is looking to getting a g3, which is a spool valve marker, id think the question of if he wants a spool or poppet has been answered

I was looking into getting a new marker and my choices for my buget was G3 SE, PMR, Etek, 09 Shocker, Bob Long Protege. I held the SE (and liked it) and was leaning towards that because of the 400$ price tag. I dont want any thing used (If I have too I will go for the DM7). Should I go with the SE?
