Tippmann A5

Just bought the standard Tippmann A5, I plan to add stuff to it... stock, sight, barrel, etc. There was a review on the site I bought it off and it said that the Flatline barrel for the gun makes things complicated. I wondered if this was true and if it is that much of an issue what other barrels are recommended.

Tippmann A5 Stealth Marker

Thanks

Personally, J&J Ceramic are very good barrels. I think you'd be better off getting one of those.

Even though it's under $30, the J&J is one of the best barrels for under $50

I personally think it's on of the best under around $75

Couldn't agree more. Only reason I didn't get one for my tippmann is because I want a milsim look. Whatever speedball gun I get WILL have a J&J on it.

J&J ceramic, CP one piece, Lapco Bigshot even a cheap Smart Parts Progressive will work nicely. The problem with the Flatline is that it is picky on the kind of paint you can put through it and it is very sensitive to your velocity settings. If anything is out of whack you will get lots of barrel breaks and crazy hook shots. Also the extra range you get is just about useless by the time the ball reaches the end of its increased range it is traveling too slowly to break. Sometimes you can get lucky and hit a hard surface like a mask or marker but most of the time the ball just bounces off. I've seen some absolutely incredible shots that only a Flatline sprinkled with leprechaun dust could make but it makes much more sense to get a regular barrel and learn to make your game work with it. Paintball gimmicks are never worth the effort or cost.

Sorry for all of these questions....

But anyway does anyone have any preferences between these barrels and size etc.

I got a BT-16 14" Milsim barrel and I love it. Very accurate and looks good.

If you're going with those, get a 16" J&J. You'll do best with one of those.

At the time i had some extra cash and i bought the flatline barrel, watched a few vids, read a few FAQ's and it works great for me. Definatly has more distance then the stock barrel i had and makes some tight shots thru the bushes... and it looks cool. I Mostly use RPS Marbalizers in it but i also shoot the cheap Sport Chalet paint. It deffinatly shoots better on Marbz but the ball is perfectly round. As Far as Breaks go I dont think i've had more then 5 balls break on me in about 3 boxes of 2000 count. One barrel you might try is a Custom Parts 1 piece barrel 14" .693 bore

Regards
J

You get more distance, but the more you get is not really usable. However, the regular range is straighter.

That said, since the barrel do a spin to the ball, the paintball is more sensible to wind, so good conditions are hard to get.

Keep your money, and get a J&J ceramic : they are much more better.
