ION: really as good?

Hi, im new to ION's but, i just got 2 of them. One is stock with a freak barrel, the other is QEVed, after market reg, and vertued. Sat will be the first time i played PB this year. And my normal marker is an A5(all the mods).

Can an ION really be as good or better than the 1000-1500 marker/guns out there? And as Accurate ? Or is all the hype BS.
I can hold my own with the A5. Paintball is not all marker/gun, but it does help.

It may not shoot as well as $1000 guns, but it'll be fine.
Stick the FREAK on the Ion with all the upgrades in it, and sell the other one or trade it

The hype is from Ion owners that don't quite understand that dumping three times the purchase price of the marker in upgrades isn't an indication of a great marker.

The ion came out around the time when BPS was king; it was one of the first affordable marker to be able to keep up with the more expensive markers. Because of this, people were duped into believing it was just as good.

I love my Ion, but without a ton of upgrades, it did not compete. I play mostly with an Ego and use my Ion as a fun, tricked-out tactical/woodsball gun. Where it is largely underestimated...a the peril of my foes!!! M'wah-ha-ha-ha!

they are a decent mid level shooter, now maintanace wise they are horrid, the normal ion has one of the worst designs in all of paintball when it comes to maintanance. to be honest if you like how the ion shoots I would sell both of them and pick up a Ion XE, same platform but the bolt out back makes maintanance tolerable. nomatter what you do it is still going to be a unbalanced spool marker which makes it mid level at best
