Need help deciding on a marker
I used to play about 6-8 years ago. Now I'm wanting to get back into the sport. So much has changed since then, new comanies, some older companies that I once new now gone. I need your input on choosing the right marker. I used to play rec ball, and some speed ball back in the day,I has a prahna Evo last and it was ok. Some things were decent some not so good(like the ball detent was too soft, had to replace often). I was looking at the Azodin Blitz, Dangerous Power E1, GOG Envy, or a Spyder Fenix. Most of these brands are new to me. I know the Azodin was founded on former employees of Kingman. GOG I think was dirived from Smart Parts. I'm looking for a marker that is reliable, easy to maintain, good overall performance for the price. I'm kind of on a budget but if there are others out there that you belive spending an extra 50 bucks will the worth it, put in your input. If you'd like maybe include whats the good and bad about these markers I've listed. Thanks.

the envy and fenix will be the best places to spend your money.
When I say bes,t I mean best value. Don't give GOG your money, they're kinda a shady company. Find a used one.

Thanks matrix. I wasn't so sure about GOG. I bought my brother an ion back in the day but he didn't play much, so I wasn't so sure how they performed. Last thing I want is a marker to always give me problems and bad customer service.

they have great customer service, and there's nothing wrong with the marker. GOG has some fairly shady past and they've put some good companis out of business due to technicalities.

Thats interesting. Yea from back when I used to play about 6-8 years ago, there has been a lot of companies that I once knew go out. I've always wanted an autococker, but now you can only find them used. There has been so many changes in companies since then now I have to do so much research on the new ones. But thanks for all your input. I kind of like the Invert Mini but I'd have to save an extra 150 for one. But my birthday is coming up so it may not break the bank to much. It may be worth the extra 150 tho. Lighter smaller, and I do have small fingers, that was one thing that has been brought up about it. Bad for large hands. But I'm still researching. It's a fairly large investment, using my unused sick pay from work that I got compensated for. Trying to find the marker thats right for me, so I'm not having to save up for a better one in 6 months.

Invert mini is a nice gun but i would rather use alot of different guns in that price range.
For the price i like the gog enmy, gog envy, azodin blitz, and the spyder fenix.

For the price of a Mini, I'd no doubt get a Valken Proton.

I actually got to do a review for one of those and the mokal aura last saturday it was for a few guys. The proton is quite a nice gun if they ever came out with a true high end gun with the same type of platform it would be one nice marker.
Personally for the price of a mini i would buy used i could get a 08-09 high end gun that would shoot better than both

Bob long marq comes to mind. Exact same type of operation, but MUCH MUCH better. it's not as tiny, though

What do you feel about the proto rail? The reviews I've read were mostly good.

Cost-to-features vs. maintenance...if you have to buy new... its not bad. Solenoid gasket leaks above 285fps in some models...Right now I'm waiting on a replacement gasket for my Reflex - whose shape hasn't changed since at least 2009...so its a known problem...
Yeah.. I'm happy with my little Proto (reflex) Rail.. not a bad shooter. No real upgrade to do outside the trigger...and maybe a dump chamber mod. The Valken/Mokal would still not be a bad option.

Thanks Dprimmy. I guess for speedball you wouldn't need to go past 285 fps. It's been a while since I last played, but I think the max fps was 350 for rec ball. Not sure if that has changed.

Speed limitations are capped at 300fps.
Most fields I've played at are 280/285 cap.
Some indoor fields I've played at cap between 250-260.
But things to keep in mind -
If a seal is known to leak at 285 fps..ish... when new....
After it gets some wear to it, or you turn your reg up too high..too thin of lube, etc... how long until 285 becomes lower than 285?
My last outing with the marker, I had the FPS dropped to 255 to prevent gasket leak - at which point I decided to dump the marker in my trunk and pull out my ETEK....and not a problem was had thereafter.
Gaskets are...hell.. I'll link a picture compared to a guitar pick. $3/ea. $2.95 through Dye..if you don't mind paying 21.95 shipping. Pic will resize when photobucket decides to stop being lazy.

Maybe ansgear carries the gasket. I'll check, maybe I'll order a few with the marker cause I think I'll have free shipping. Thats if I get that marker. 265 fps may be a decent speed. There is a field for 3 man games, that would be plenty for close quarters. I think there it a bigger field near by to that it a little bigger. Seems like they lowered the fps since I used to play, cause I'm pretty sure it was 350, but not 100%. That was like 6 years ago tho. Thanks

Have you thought about a Quest? You can pick them up for about $200, and IMO, performs much better than anything out there around that price.

Who makes the Quest? It's been a while since I played and never heard of that one. Is it a pump?

The quest isn't made anymore, but First Endeavor made them. There's a decent amount of parts for it still. It's a spool valve marker that a few people around here swear by.
It's not a pump, though.
for $200, you can pick up a marq, almost. Those are VERY solid markers.
