Well for begginers start looking into buying a Kingman Spyder Victor 2. It was my first semi-auto gun and it's ok. It can be upgraded easy and for a good price. I got mine for $60.00, now a days I see them at the store for $50.00.

a phantom is good for scenario play. Otherwise get an electro spyder for around $150 or a tippy 98c, they never break

phantoms are great begginer guns, and guns for use at any level. stock class gives you the kind of skill you can learn shooting a tippmann or spyder. go for it. and then, if you ever go and get a semi, you'll mow them.

Go for a spyder or a tippy or a Dragun T.E.S. Those are all good beginners guns. My bro has a Dragun T.E.S. and it works good, so I would recommend that.

phantoms are the best pumps out there. great first guns and very durable. plus if u hold the trigger while pumping the slide you can get 4-5bps (or so my friend says)

i think the exact opposite. in the short term having a spyder will be easier but it also teaches you to spray and pray which is a horrible habit.
Phantoms teach you to make every shot count and to expose as little of yourself as possible. When you move on from a phantom to a semi you will be much better then someone who started with a semi. the same goes(to a lesser extent) for the tippy and spyder/piranha.

the phantoms are the best pumps out there other then the dyes...
