How to: Dye your bolt.

I didn't write this one, I got it off ICDU over at ICD-O. Do this if you aren't adventurous enough to chop the bolt up.

-Rit Dye clothing dye
-Pot
-Water
-Bolt
-Tongs
-Rag or old towel
-Clock or timer of some sort

Step 1:
Take the pot, fill it with water up till the bolt will be cover by it. Put the water on the stove and start heating it.

Step 2:
While the water is heating, take your bolt out of your gun, take the right sized allen key and unscrew the setscrew/spring/ball from the back of the bolt. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE IT OUT! Keep these things safe.
*IF YOU HAVE O RINGS ON YOUR BOLT TAKE THEM OFF*

Step 3:
Check on the water, when it gets hot pour in the dye. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT USE THE WHOLE PACKET!! This dye is powerful stuff and all you should need is 1 teaspoon for a light coloring, more for darker. Once the powder is in the pot, stir it around and let it heat up to a boiling point.

Step 4: *CRITICAL STEP*
When it begins to boil turn the heat to medium. Then put the bolt into the pot. WATCH IT CLOSELY. Most likely you will have to take the bolt out several times to check on it's progress but keep doing it until you have your desired color.

Step 5:
Take the bolt out and rinse it off with cold water. Make sure you don't get the dye on your hands because it will stain. Wash it off good then place it on your rag/old towel.

*IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR POT DUMP THE DYE OUT QUICKLY!* I poured it into the toilet and flushed real quick to prevent
the dye from setting. Then i quickly scrubbed the pot with soap and water for a while. It got out all the dye with no problem.

Step 6:
Dry the bolt real good and let it sit. After around an hour put the ball/spring/set screw back into the back of the bolt.

Step 7:
Replace the bolt back in your gun and VOILA!

Good luck, experiment with different colors or fades. just remember to do the light colors first and give it time between dying for the previous dye to dry and set.
This mod does nothing for function, but it will make your bolt look nice and colorful!
