My stock X-Mill body was uber sexy just the way it was, but it could look a little(lot) better.
I've been planning on buying a mill for a little bit now, but have not been able to sell my welding machine yet to get the cash to buy a mill, so I'm using the tools I have at hand... A dremel and fine tooth files.
Before you start freaking out on me, I know, I hate Dremel's too, but i'm skilled with the Dremel and files so why not? All of those other thing's I have made (Some pull pins and my snatch grips) turned out kick ass.
As of now, the body looks and is a total hack-job, but i'll explain why later.
For this gun, no ordinary pull pin would do, so earlier today I decided to make a 1-off Demented hour-glass design pin. I've been without a lathe for quite some time now, but hopefully that will change soon. Since I didn't have a lathe, I improvised like always.
Hand drill in a vise, some tape to keep it in the on position, stainless steel round stock, and various files plus 36 minutes and I wound up with this.
I'm more then extremely pleased with it's outcome and even have my brother to vouch for me on how well it came out.
Now for the body.
It's pretty much hacked up right now. I was out cutting off a majority of the material I wanted off with my Dremel (I'm leaving about 1/8" material extra that I will shave off and shape by hand with the files) for a few hours but was keeping my mom up and had to stop.
Now, i'm pretty sure most of you have seen Dyn2liv's old x-mill and can't help but admire it's sexiness as I did. After seeing that gun in the b/s/t I decided that I will mill my x-mill body similar to that, because there is nothing I can think of that woudl be better.
Now for some pictures.
Yes yes, I know the pictures suck, sorry about that.
Tomorrow I plan on finishing the main cutting and start my work on the shaping of the body and filing everything down. It will take me upwards of 6 hours, but it will be well worth the wait in the end.
When i'm donw with the milling and everything, this gun wont be quite near done. I plan on getting PDS installed, a second 'cocker detent, and a custom trayless.
The custom trayless I plan on doing is pretty simple. After the whole craziness with my T1 and me not liking the T2 frame, I started thinking of another way to make this gun trayless without cutting the tray down.
What I plan on doing is buying a used clamshell, preferably from a Promaster or Alias Timmy and modifying the front to accept the rounded and not-so-forward ASA, along with making a custom manifold with barbs for the free-floating noid.
When all is done, maybe a black/blue acid-wash ano, but I havn't decided yet.
All input is welcome.
