Promaster Upgrades???
At the new low price of $250, I couldn't resist buying a Promaster. I'm trying to figure out what upgrades I should buy. I already have an HPA tank. I'm going to be purchasing an Empire Reloader B. I've already realized I need to buy a new feedneck for it. I'm assuming that should be a simple screw in/out to switch that.
I've also read alot of reviews saying I should get a new regulator for it. I was looking at some of the CP regulators. But I'm still new to this stuff, so I wasn't sure if I should get a long or short one and one with or without a gauge. Any advice on which one goes best with this gun.
Any other upgrades you guys would recommend? How is the barrel on this gun?

you'll need a strap wrench to get the feedneck off, also the lpr will also need it when you take that off when lubing.
Give the stock regulators a chance, like 2 or 3 cases. After that you can make your call. Long or short cp depends on what length you like for a foregrip. No gauge is needed, gun has one for the hpr already.
Barrel works well but buy a nice highend barrel like a cp 2piece or UL and you'll notice a little better accuracy, especially down range.
Gun doesn't need much cept a feedneck-make damn sure you're getting ICD threads not impulse. I recommend ordering direct from either CCM or AKA who make ICD threaded necks. Again give the regs a chance and then see, efficancy is a little low so a nice valve would boost that (zentrium,vapor,ebay-really it's on ebay) A barrel if you want, after that there are plenty of bolts, boards, triggers, lprs, and even rams.

Thanks for the advice. I'll hold off on the regulator like you said.
I was looking at a feedneck by CP. It says it fits Impulse, Shocker, and ICD's, so hopefully it will work. If not, I'll send it back.
If I really end up liking the gun, I was thinking of getting a Stiffi Switch Barrel Kit for it. It's pricey, but everything I've read about it has been positive.

Even though i'm all for helping people upgrade their guns, I just have an urge not to.
You just bought a Promaster and havn't even played with one yet... The best thing to do is play with your gun a few times so you know how the gun feels and how it performes so you will have a better idea of what you want to upgrade to get the best of your needs.

I'm not upgrading it right away. I'm just trying to get an idea of what I might need since I'm not familiar with ICD's. The only thing I'm going to get soon is the feedneck so the hopper will fit it properly. I will probably go to the field 2-3 times before I can start getting a feel for what it might need.

that CP feedneck isn't ICD threads. It's that close thread type i warned you about. You run the risk of stripping your feedneck out.
I think kits are overrated unless you are a tourney baller and encounter lots of bores. I stick with my most common bore.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm not familiar with the companies you named that I should buy the feedneck from directly. Could you maybe PM me a link if you get a chance?

You should take apart both your regs before you play and clean/lube them a lottt of them seem to have problems.. I dont think ICD has ever gotten a reg perfect outta the box. and Id play with that for a while... the regs can be pretty decent. but according to most reviews you can get a lil more gas e out of a new one...
