i am about to buy a promaster, and i dont know which macroline and asa to get, i have $96 to spend, but i dont want to spend all of it, can someone direct me to what to buy.

buy a cp rail and cp on/off, will cost at the most 60 plus shipping.

Go to a local proshop and look around at ASA's and get what you want. Macro will be the same anywhere you buy it from.

You can use a rail mounted ASA or a direct mount.

I prefer the CP direct mount if looking for an on/off ASA. If a bleeding standard ASA is desired, I like the XSV profile mount.

i've used that one. I still have the on/off.

It's pretty good. My only compliant is that the way the asa is secured to the rail. A ball bearing in the rail is held down by a screw, this presses down on the asa holding it in place. It only took me a few hard dives and my asa started wobbling. Turned out i'd worn a small divot into my asa b/c the metal is junk. The screw/ball bearing combo also failed to hold my asa in place to my satisfaction after that.

but a better design of a rail. This presses upon the whole asa to secure it instead of 1 point. Much better and gives a great hold.

havent seen anything about them, I would stick with the cp on/off they work really well and are in the same pricerange as that one.

so i should get that asa and put it on that drop, the only thing is i hate drops, they get in the way to much, i was thinking maybe this one if not the one you showed me.

Yes. The stock feedneck is too small.

If you see Ion listed with ICD threads, it wont fit.
