Bushy FAQs - Look here before asking

Frequently Asked questions:

My trigger has side to side play, is something wrong?
No thats completely normal, and actually helpful for reaching higher rates of fire. If you would like to eliminate this you can buy a new trigger such as a vapor trigger.

My gun is leaking, what do I do?
First find out where the leak is.
solenoid leak: If that doesnt work, take the air off, and then unscrew the tray. Take the solenoid apart and oil the orings on the side that connects to the body, then remove the bottom part of the solenoid and oil the gasket and put it back on. Re assemble.
Valve leak: Getting at the valve can be a pain. First you need to take out the ram and then the LPR, take off the tray and in the middle of the body you you should see a screw, unscrew it using an allen wrench. You should be able to get at it from there, inspect the o rings and the cup seal. Its a good idea to get a vapor valve because they have a lifetime no leak guarantee

My gun isnt shooting, whats wrong and what do I do?
Ok it could be a lot of things. Check the on off, make sure your tank is full, your bolt is not upside down, and make sure your battery is full. First check the wiring, take off the tray and position the batteries different ways if the LED turns on and then off in different positions you need to get it rewired. If the light turns on try screwing in your LPR so that it cocks.

How do I maintain my Bushy/bko?
First off its a good idea to buy a minor rebuild kit, it comes with all the springs o rings and replacement parts you'll need. First take out your bolt, is it gunky and dirty? If so get a paper towel and clean it off until most of the gunk is removed. Before you play, snap off your macroline (without air) and put it 1 drop of oil for the reg. Next put 2 or 3 drops of oil on your tank threads to ensure it goes in smoothly all that should be enough oil for your whole gun. Then unscrew the ball detent push on it a couple of times to make sure everything is going smoothly, if not just take a paper towel and wipe it around on it. Every once in a while you will want to do a full cleaning, that is taking everything apart inspecting it, oiling it, cleaning it, and replacing it if its broken.

Can I use Co2 on a bushmaster/bko?
The answer is yes and no. If set up properly then it will work. To set it up properly these are the things you must have: Steel braided hose (macro can leak a lot easier with Co2), Palmers stabilizer and an anti syphoned Co2 tank. Hopefully this will keep most of the liquid out. But also there are particles in the Co2 like dirt, that is physically abrasive to the internals of the gun. Also when shooting fast the tank gets colder and you begin to have shootdown. Of course while using Co2 you risk a lot of damage to your solenoid. HPA is a definite preferance, as it almost never gets shootdown, and is very clean and consistant. I can't think of a faster way to screw up your gun than to shoot liquid Co2 through it. Definitely save 80 bucks for an HPA set up, it will be more than worth it.

What tank should I get? high pressure or low pressure?
That depends, are you going to be using the tank on other guns? Do you have a BKO or a Bushy? Its safest to go and buy a high pressure tank, if you are going to be using the tank on lower end guns then you will want to get a high pressure tank, people have experienced shootdown with low pressure tanks also. If it were up to me I'd choose high pressure.

How do I install chaos?
Chaos is very simple to install, first take off the grip and see if you have a 12 pin or 22 pin wiring harness. Depending on which one it is you may need to get a different wiring harness. At the bottom of the grip there is an allen screw holding the board in place, unscrew this. Now disconnect the board from the harness. Connect the chaos, and screw it in. Then put the grip back on.

How does a bushmaster work?
A bushmaster works very much like a spyder but instead of a sear it uses air. The air goes into the reg and gets dialed down to around 275 psi. Once its dialed down, 90 psi of that air is taken by the low pressure reg and routed through the solenoid and is used to push the hammer back, which is attached to the bolt. This opens the chamber allowing a ball to drop in. The bolt stays back because of the air pressure until a switch is activated (the trigger switch) and sends a message to the solenoid to close the two solenoid valves which are keeping the bolt back and two open two more. The two that the solenoid opens releases air regulated by the LPR and pushes the bolt and the hammer forward. The hammer is pushed forward until it hits a valve, which releases the air from the inline, which goes through the body up to the bolt and out the end of the bolt, propelling the paintball out the barrel. Then the process starts over.

How does a BKO work?
A BKO works much like a bushmaster. The air goes from the tank into the inline regulator. The inline regulator dials down the air pressure. Then it goes from there into the low pressure regulator, which on 2003 bkos and earlier is above and behind the inline. On 2004 models it is right under the barrel. The BKO uses a spring to push back the ram, then the air stored in the LPR is released via the solenoid and pushes the ram into the valve. That then opens the valve and releases air that goes up into the bolt and out the front, propelling the ball out of the barrel. Then the spring pushes the ram back letting another ball drop into the chamber.

have a lot of kick from my Bushmaster whats going on and how do I stop it?
First of all check your inline regulator and make sure you're not shooting hot and that the pressure isn't over 300psi. Then turn your LPR down slowly until it doesnt cock. Then turn it until it is fully cocked plus half a turn. Also consider buying and installing low pressure parts on your gun.

What is PDS and where can I get it?
PDS means paint detection system. It uses break beam eyes (so it can detect your paintball even if its black or very dark) to sense a paintball in the breech. It costs about 70 more to buy a bushmaster already equipped with a PDS system and you can send your gun into ICD to have PDS installed for 125 dollars (165 for BKOs although I'm not entirely sure), contact ICD on how to do it.

What is an SP ram and what does it do?
SP stands for solenoid pressure. An sp modded ram will make it so that when you fire fast without PDS instead of chopping it will pinch the ball and bounce back leaving the ball unbroken. There are rumors you wont be able to shoot over 280 FPS with this mod but I'm not sure.

what barrel is best for my BKO/bushy?
The truth is that questions like this belong in the barrel and paint section but 3 good barrels at a good price are SP teardrop/progressive (they're basically the same), the CP 1 piece, and the J&J ceramic.

but does the BKO run like this? but only 1 hole is used to each bolt movement instead of two? making b2k a 4-thing-noid and bko 2-thing-noid?

Yes I'll add how a BKO runs soon, I'm also gonna edit the part numbers so the name and number are on one line. Saving you precious internet p0rno time.

should be stickied. But, if the solenoids leaking, you can also try tightening the noid to the manifold.

great post!

Ya but its better to disassemble it before tightening so you know its aligned right.

Thumbs up

This is definitely sticky material, especially since you took the time to write out and post the gun diagram.

Hopefully this will cut down on the simple questions that are repeated way too often.

+1 rep point and sticky! Nice job!
